Description
We are looking for an experienced Lead SEC Analyst to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role involves overseeing the preparation and review of financial statements and disclosures for public registrants while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across teams to meet reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review financial statements, including cash flow statements and related disclosures, in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
• Collaborate with various business units to gather necessary information for internal and external financial reporting.
• Examine workpapers prepared by team members to ensure accuracy and adherence to reporting standards.
• Conduct technical accounting research and partner with the Accounting Research team to implement new accounting pronouncements.
• Develop and maintain quarterly and annual disclosure checklists to ensure compliance with required reporting standards.
• Review and analyze SEC filing data within Workiva for assigned filing areas.
• Serve as a liaison with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support during audits.
• Contribute to special projects and ad hoc assignments as needed.
Requirements
Required:
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ Active CPA license
+ Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry or consulting/advisory.
+ Strong experience in SEC reporting and U.S. GAAP.
+ Self-starter who works well both in a team environment and independently
Preferred:
+ Experience with Wdesk (Workiva), BPC, and EPM.
+ Strong Excel and Word proficiency.
+ Oil & Gas industry experience is a plus but not required.
