Description
Our large, diverse client is seeking a highly analytical and technologically adept Director of Accounting Analytics for a contract role to lead their advanced accounting operations with a focus on automation, AI integration, and data-driven financial accuracy. This individual will be responsible for managing complex reconciliation processes, ensuring GAAP compliance, and leveraging emerging technologies within the Microsoft Power Platform and AI ecosystems to transform traditional accounting workflows. The position is onsite in Brentwood, TN.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Process Management
+ Oversee and continuously improve complex reconciliation processes involving large datasets and multiple systems.
+ Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards across all accounting functions.
+ Lead exception management workflows and resolution strategies for financial discrepancies and reconciliation mismatches.
Process Integration and Oversight
+ Collaborate closely with Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (O2C) teams to ensure accurate and timely transaction processing and reporting.
+ Review and audit billing contracts, invoice structures, and terms to ensure compliance with financial controls and policy.
AI-Driven Analytics and Automation
+ Manage the AI reconciliation process, including implementation, monitoring, training models, and exception handling.
+ Leverage AI tools and machine learning algorithms to automate high-volume transaction matching and flag anomalies.
+ Partner with IT and analytics teams to ensure robust data pipelines and governance frameworks support AI use cases.
Power Platform Development & Optimization
+ Design, develop, and maintain solutions in Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps) to automate accounting processes and deliver real-time insights.
+ Lead Power BI reporting and dashboard development for visibility into reconciliation metrics, exceptions, and KPIs.
+ Automate approval flows and data validation routines using Power Automate and integrated AI connectors.
Strategic Leadership
+ Act as a subject matter expert for accounting technology, automation, and analytics within the organization.
+ Train and mentor accounting staff on new tools, workflows, and data literacy to promote digital transformation.
+ Stay current on accounting tech trends, including AI and low-code platforms, and recommend strategic improvements.
Requirements
Education:
+ Degree in Accounting, Data Science, or related field required. Advanced degree would be helpful.
Experience:
+ Minimum 7-10 years in accounting or financial operations, including senior roles in reconciliation and audit functions.
+ Proven experience managing accounting processes across P2P and O2C cycles.
+ Strong background in reviewing billing, contract terms, and invoice compliance.
+ Demonstrated experience in AI reconciliation, data automation, and exception management.
Technical Skills:
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).
+ Experience with AI reconciliation tools, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics), and data integration tools.
+ Proficiency with Excel (advanced formulas, Power Query, pivot tables), SQL, and data modeling.
Soft Skills:
+ Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
+ Strategic thinker with high attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced, data-rich environment and drive continuous improvement.
Preferred Certifications:
+ CPA, CMA, or equivalent accounting certifications
+ Microsoft Power Platform certifications
+ AI/ML or data analytics certifications (optional but highly valuable)
