CONTROLLER - Growth-oriented Construction Company in Lawrenceville
A rapidly growing company specializing in commercial construction in the Southeast is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and manage their financial operations. This newly created role will support senior leadership and play a critical part in maintaining financial integrity and driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring strong construction accounting experience, especially with Work In Progress (WIP) schedules, and a comprehensive understanding of corporate accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversee all accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, payroll, and general ledger activities in accordance with GAAP.
+ Lead and collaborate with the accounting team to promote a culture of teamwork, accuracy, and excellent service.
+ Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
+ Partner with senior leadership to develop, analyze, and report key financial metrics and data.
+ Manage purchase accounting and integration processes for newly acquired businesses, ensuring regulatory and GAAP compliance.
+ Ensure compliance with sales and use tax regulations and prepare necessary returns.
+ Maintain fixed asset ledgers and oversee depreciation calculations.
+ Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
+ Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
+ Assess financial risks and manage property and liability insurance renewals.
Requirements
+ 5+ years of accounting and finance experience within the construction industry, with strong knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting.
+ Proficient in payroll processing, accounts receivable management, and cash management strategies.
+ Experience with financial software systems; familiarity with Foundation Software or similar construction accounting platforms is a plus.
+ Solid understanding of technical accounting principles and corporate accounting practices.
+ Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
+ Experience integrating acquired entities from an accounting perspective is advantageous.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA designation preferred.
+ Ability to work independently with sound judgment and minimal supervision.
+ Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to integrity and urgency.
