    Project Accountant

     

    Reports to: CFO/Controller

    Position Overview

    The Project Accountant will oversee all financial aspects of assigned construction projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project budgets. This role will require partnering with Project Managers and other key stakeholders to manage the billing, reporting, and cost oversight processes.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Project Records Management: Maintain contracts, change orders, billing documents, etc.

    + Variance Analysis & Reporting: Investigate project variances and provide variance reports.

    + Budget Monitoring: Regularly review job cost reports for overruns and communicate internally

    + Billing Management:

    + Oversee the monthly billing process in collaboration with Project Managers.

    + Review and finalize schedule of values for each project.

    + Prepare and submit progress billings, client-specific forms, and lien releases.

    + Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to address inquiries and ensure smooth workflow.

    + Support to Leadership: Assist the CFO/Controller with reconciliations, reporting, and research projects, as needed.

     

    Requirements & Preferred Experience

     

    + Professional Experience: 1+ years of hands-on experience in accounting (preferred).

    + Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in MS Excel is required; experience with an ERP software a plus.

    + Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and maintain accuracy in complex projects.

    + Communication Skills: Excellent ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who values collaboration to achieve shared objectives.

    Requirements

    • 1+ years of experience in billing and project accounting/general accounting

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.

    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

    • Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights.

    • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
