    Position Title:Theatre Assistant Teaching Professor

    Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

    Iowa State University’s Department of Music and Theatre seeks a dynamic and experienced Theatre instructor/director for three-year appointment (with opportunity for renewal), beginning 8/16/25. The successful candidate will direct one theatre production per academic year, mentor performing arts majors, and teach theatre/performing arts courses such as introductory and advanced acting, directing, script analysis, voice performance, musical theatre, etc. depending on candidate expertise and department need.

    Responsibilities:

    + Direct one theatre production (or equivalent) per academic year

    + Teach 2-4 theatre/performing arts courses per semester

    + Serve as a Faculty Mentor for performing arts majors

    + Assist with recruiting prospective students

     

    This part-time term faculty position is 75% full-time equivalent (FTE), with an initial 3-year term ending 5/15/2028.

     

    Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

    Required Minimum Qualifications:

    + Master’s degree in theatre or related field

    + Experiencing teaching theatre

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience teaching performance courses

    + Experience teaching directing

    + Experience as a theatre director

    + Experience teaching voice or musical theatre

    + Experience teaching university theatre

    + Demonstrated excellence and achievement as a theatre professional
