Iowa State University’s Facilities Planning Management (FPM) Utilities Department is seeking a Manager of Utilities position to provide leadership and supervision for operations staff at the Power Plant. This role manages plant supervisors, operators, and the remote plant staff and equipment involved in utilities production at Iowa State. The Manager of Utilities is responsible for providing a safe and efficient workplace while supporting, developing and respecting colleagues. The team is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of high-pressure boilers, electrical generators, chillers and other auxiliary equipment that provide the campus with a source of reliable utilities.
Example of Duties• Oversees and directs the day-to-day operations of all production functions• Serves as a contact for the department• Provides input and recommendations to strategic direction and effectiveness• Reviews and developed budgets and make recommendations on department spending• Participates in short and long-term strategic planning• Develops policies and procedures• Supervises and develops operations staff
