    Are you a passionate and experienced data leader ready to shape the future of data engineering at a global scale? Colgate-Palmolive is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead a team dedicated to building reliable and scalable data engineering pipelines, and delivery data products. You will be a key leader within our Global IT organization, partnering closely with teams across Analytics, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Technology to ensure the data products empower data-driven decisions and enhance operational efficiency worldwide.

    Responsibilities:

    + **Technologist:** Strong engineering and technology background with the ability to build, mentor, and lead a global team of talented data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, "roll up your sleeves" engagement, and continuous learning. People leader with a technology focus, and scale the organization effectively.

    + **Build & Operate:** Oversee the development and operation of critical data pipelines (batch and real-time), ensuring high availability, data quality, and adherence to SLAs to support global operational workflows. Champion best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance. Oversee development of end to end data integration capabilities, enabling data consumption and insights.

    + **Drive Innovation & Modernization:** Stay ahead of industry trends and identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and open-source products to enhance our data capabilities. Lead efforts to modernize existing data stacks and automate processes.

    + **Collaborate & Influence:** Act as a key strategic partner and effective communicator with stakeholders across the company, including senior leadership. Understand diverse business needs, translate requirements into technical solutions, and drive adoption of data platforms. Bring energy and enthusiasm to the stakeholders.

    + **Ensure Excellence:** Establish and maintain high standards for data fidelity, security, privacy, and operational stability within the data platform, conducting design and code reviews to ensure compliance.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field

    + 12+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and/or building large-scale data platforms

    + 5+ years of proven experience in people management, scaling, and developing data teams, including experience managing managers

    + Deep expertise in data architecture principles and designing solutions for complex, global data ecosystems (lakes, warehouses, streaming)

    + Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms and associated services

    + Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and CI/CD practices for data pipelines within a DevOps mindset

    + Proficiency with modern data stack technologies (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Kafka) and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks)

    + Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Spark, Java) and SQL expertise

    + Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale, cross-functional technical projects and initiatives in an Agile environment

    + Exceptional communication, collaboration, partnership attitude, and strategic thinking skills

    + Experience operating in a global enterprise environment

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Master's degree in a relevant technical field

    + Proven track record of driving data quality and governance initiatives

    + Relevant CPG experience in Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, data domains

    Compensation and Benefits

    Salary Range $151,200.00 - $189,000.00 USD

     

    Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

     

    Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
