    Salary Range: $ 137,914 - $ 189,130 (Executive Hay: 1096)

    Responsibilities

    New York City Transit (NYCT) is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual with a passion for public service to join the team as the Assistant Vice President, Service Programs & Initiatives . Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role will be crucial in driving high-priority initiatives aimed at enhancing service operations across the agency. The ideal candidate will have excellent project management, communication, research, and writing skills, as well as the ability to engage with senior leadership and manage cross-functional teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Project Management & Coordination:

    + Drive and advance complex, high-profile service-related projects at NYCT, coordinating with senior staff across departments.

    + Ensure that project deliverables are tracked and completed, managing tight timelines and sensitive issues.

    + Facilitate or lead problem-solving sessions and drive follow-up actions to mitigate project risks.

    + Support senior management in high-level strategy discussions and decision-making processes.

    + Executive Leadership Support:

    + Brief and staff the COO, NYCT, at key meetings, providing strategic guidance and assistance with briefing materials.

    + Draft research memos, develop presentations, and write talking points on policy and operational issues.

    + Review and edit documents from staff for review by the NYCT President, COO, and Chief of Staff.

    + Serve as an advisor on a variety of issues related to operations, service management, and data analysis.

    + Research & Communications:

    + Conduct research and analysis on special assignment topics and provide recommendations for improving service operations.

    + Write accurate, concise issue summaries, policy documents, and strategic recommendations.

    + Develop and manage the logistics of site visits, preparing background or issue briefs as needed.

    + Matrixed Management:

    + Oversee the analytical team within the Office of the COO, ensuring smooth coordination and completion of deliverables.

    + Ensure all project-related actions are followed up on and completed as required.

     

    Education and Experience

     

    + A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, with equivalent experience considered.

    + A minimum of 5 years of experience in program or project management, particularly in a public service, transportation, or operations-related role.

    + Proven experience working with senior leadership in a fast-paced environment.

    + Strong expertise in research, writing, and communication with a focus on public service or transportation issues.

    Desired Skills & Abilities:

    + Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate deliverables across multiple teams and departments.

    + Excellent writing, research, and presentation skills.

    + Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with multiple competing priorities.

    + Experience in developing and reviewing policy, operational documents, and strategic recommendations.
