    Job Description:

    The Director of Investigations and Title IX Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity, Accessibility and Compliance. The Director of Investigations and Title IX Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the investigations arising from the University’s Nondiscrimination and Anti-Harassment policy, the University’s Title IX policy, and other applicable policies within the purview of the Office for Equity Compliance and Reporting. This position is responsible for ensuring Brown University’s compliance with Title IX, implementation of regulations, and any additional relevant federal and state law. The Director of Investigations and Title IX Coordinator is required to stay apprised of all relevant changes in state and federal civil rights law, including but not limited to guidance, agreements and letters issued by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights on behalf of the Department of Education.

    Job Qualifications

    + J.D. and a minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in this or a related field in higher education. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

    + Experience in the administration of investigations and of live hearings or other disciplinary processes.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state civil rights laws including but not limited to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX and VAWA, their implementing regulations, and Department of Education guidance, and other applicable laws and regulations is required.

    + Ability to manage multiple, ongoing and complex caseload of incidents and complaints.

    + Effective project management, organization and analytical skills.

    + Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of constituencies and audiences.

    + Strong written communication skills.

    + Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.

    + Ability to build relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the institution and peer institutions.

    + Strong interpersonal skills.

    + Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

    + Experience using Maxient is preferred.
