    Position Description

    This position Procurement Officer - Data Analytics is a Civil Service position in the Finance Department Business Assistance Office. The position will play a critical role in promoting transparency, compliance, and equity in Metro Nashville's procurement process. This role supports small, minority, and women-owned business inclusion through goal setting, data analysis, and vendor outreach. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, procurement knowledge, and a passion for equitable economic development.

     

    Metro Finance has several divisions, including procurement, treasury and management and budget. Department employees provide financial management, information and business products to policy makers, departments, investors and the Nashville community to give them confidence in our government and to help them make informed decisions.

    Typical Duties

    + Assist in establishing and updating SMWBE/SBE/SDV goal-setting data for Metro procurements.

    + Perform data entry, review, and quality control for utilization tracking systems.

    + Support key performance indicator (KPI) reporting across BAO projects and multi-award contracts.

    + Work with project managers, vendors, and compliance teams to ensure accurate project participation data.

    + Conduct research and analysis on vendor availability and project scopes to inform goal recommendations.

    + Support vendor outreach by identifying inactive, expired, or uncertified businesses and helping drive engagement.

    + Collaborate with the Senior Procurement Officer/Procurement Data Officer on continuous data improvement.

    + Provide backup support on compliance and data tasks as needed.

    + Contribute to the development of department scorecards, internal dashboards, and trend analysis reports.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Procurement, Data Analytics, or a related field.

    Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

     

    + Experience in governmental procurement or roles involving business impact

    + Proficiency with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or advanced Excel

    + Familiarity with SMWBE programs, procurement regulations, or compliance frameworks.

    + Spanish or multilingual fluency

    + Familiarity with procurement systems or data platforms
