    The main purpose and function of the Granular Operator is to operate the screening and transfer equipment to attain a maximum level of efficiency while producing a quality product and maintaining a clean work area.

     

    Must have the ability to work any shifts and any days.

     

    + We operate 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.

    + This will include working rotating shifts – day, evening, night.

    + We will Train

    Specific responsibilities may include:

    + Complete pre-shift and hourly inspections of area/equipment.

    + Sample each compartment of every car, using a probe. Record car number and date on the sample bag.

    + Taking samples to the lab. Make adjustments as needed to product according to lab results.

    + Sample screens once per hour or as instructed.

    + Hourly’s sent to the lab.

    + Communicate with Hopper loaders when getting on or off a railcar and when railcar is ready to be weighed.

    + Inspect Rotex screens daily for holes/rubber ball condition, informing supervisor of needed shutdowns due to screen conditions.

    + Check ACC crusher daily for worn teeth.

    + Monitor moisture content of product, adjusting as needed.

    + Maintain radio contact with supervisor, lab and hopper loader as needed. Inform supervisor of any problems.

    + Grease equipment once a shift.

    + Assist the Williams Mill operator in cleaning the bottom floor at the end of shift.

    + Clean spillage as soon as possible.

    + Help maintenance with repairs when possible.

    + Loading cars as needed.

    + Pass on relative information to next shift, leaving area in good condition for next operator.

    + Specific responsibilities may include Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program to conform to API Specification Q1, 9th Edition requirements by complying with the Quality Policy, procedures, and meeting QMS objectives.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    Education and training:

    + General Plant experience preferred but will train.

    + Advanced math skills, able to calculate mathematical equations for tons per hour/ per minute.

    + Basic reading, writing and comprehension.

    Experience:

    + Three (3) to six (6) months of General Plant experience preferred.

    + Experience working in an API Specification Q1, 9th Edition environment a plus.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    + Understanding of car loading equipment and plant production flows.

    + Understanding of screening operation, willing to train.

    + Peer-to-peer and employee-to-supervisor communication skills and interpersonal skills

    Physical and Safety Requirements:

    + Rotating shift work.

    + Frequently work alone.

    + Subject to dust and noise.

    + Must operate in variable weather and temperature, occasionally under extremely slick conditions.

    + Frequently work around machinery and mobile equipment.

    + Interact with Lab and Hopper loaders.

    + Frequent climbing of ladders, and stairs.

    + Sitting, bending, standing, walking, 8-10 hours per day.

    + Frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.

    + Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.

    Others:

    + Attention to detail.

    + Produce error-free work.

    + Deadline-oriented.

    + Ensure that customers’ requests come first.

    + Self-starter who thinks of innovative, faster ways to accomplish tasks.

    + Work with minimal supervision.

    + Flexible and able to adapt to our dynamic environment.
