*The Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) in the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Medicine is seeking a Laboratory Operations Manager (Supervisory Program Manager).*This position will report directly to the Associate Director for Administration and the Deputy Director of UMGCCC in support of the programmatic goals of the UMGCCC, overseeing ongoing day-to-day laboratory operations including the associated administrative and technical operations. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.*/ *Primary Duties* * Assist leadership by coordinating business, administration, logistical and technical support for all UMB-based UMGCCC lab and office locations. UMGCCC research programs are currently located in five separate locations on the UMB campus. * Oversee, administer, and finalize UMGCCC procurements in support of all research programs including purchase orders, ProCard transactions and travel. * Act as the primary point person with SOM and Campus staff to facilitate preparation of offices and laboratories, staff relocations and IT support, contributing to UMGCCC lab/office moves & renovations including administrative offices and faculty labs and offices including relocation of UMB staff. * On behalf of UMGCCC, maintain School of Medicine PI/space/funding database for faculty assigned to UMGCCC controlled space. * Maintain UMGCCC equipment inventory system. * Responsible for all aspects of the specific program, including day-to-day operations, project management, and contract compliance. * Responsible for managing the operations of a single or multiple research laboratory(s) and provide administrative and technical support to the research activities. * Manage laboratory operations ensuring quality control and safety compliance, developing policies and procedures, and ordering supplies. Identify and address issues and deficiencies and implement effective solutions. * Provide for establishment or development of laboratory by evaluating equipment or machinery to be ordered, planning interactions with IT systems, and drafting Standard Operating Procedures for using new equipment. * Foster and support a conducive consultant/client environment, providing business unit and campus representatives with assessment, training, and advisement in research area. * Perform other duties as assigned. *Education:*Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a biological science, Business Administration or other field of study related to the operations/research of a laboratory. *Experience:*Four (4) years of program oversight including program planning, budget, and coordination. Experience with a ProCard, Quantum Financials and Concur Travel preferred. *Supervisory Experience:*Two (2) years of direct management experience required. *Certification/Licensure:*Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred. *Other:*Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted. *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* Knowledge of position requirements.
