    This is a grade E position, working 8:30-4:30 pm M-F, 35 hours a week. The last day for internal candidates to apply for this position is Friday, May 16, 2025.

    The Data Communication Specialist provides clerical support for the Financial Aid Office. This position also has the main responsibility of printing, mailing, and emailing award information, missing document letters and other follow-up correspondence. Assists customers in answering general financial aid questions over the telephone and by email. The Data Communication Specialist also provides general support for the Financial Aid Office in ordering supplies, processing purchase orders, coordinating the repair/maintenance of office equipment, assists with the organization and shredding of the student files. This position also assists in covering the front desk duties of the One Stop during busy times, lunch, breaks, vacations, etc. when needed.

    You will:

    + Responsible for all written communication to students i.e.; printing, mailing and/or emailing award letters, missing information letters, bursar loan notifications, exit counseling letters, etc. Use of Argos is sometimes needed in addition to PowerFAIDS.

    + Coordinate with the Duplication department regarding necessary printing projects.

    + Review returned mail using other addresses in PowerFAIDS or Banner to resend document.

    + Assist with answering/returning overflow phone calls, responding to emails, or logging voicemail messages.

    + Provide information to students, parents, and staff members outside of the Financial Aid Office, regarding financial aid procedures, missing documents, etc.

    + Open mail/electronic faxes and perform quality control prior to entering data into PowerFAIDS including any necessary follow up with families to correct submitted information.

    + Scan and organize documents into electronic filing system.

    + Assist with daily internal coding and tracking in PowerFAIDS.

    + Distribute necessary documents in received mail to professional staff in office for processing.

    + Provide clerical support for and receive instruction from office staff members.

    + Serve as backup for processing purchase orders.

    + Manage supply of all financial aid forms, paper, letterhead, envelopes, etc.

    + Co-ordinates filing, shredding of old files, etc. Create student folders when necessary.

    + Coordinate maintenance and repair on copiers/fax machines with outside vendors.

    + Submit requests through UNH Support Services.

    + Maintain office calendars regarding prospective student one on one appointments through Admissions software as well as reporting appointment no shows in Navigate.

    + Maintain spreadsheets in Teams for various office projects.

    + Coordinate with Admissions Office regarding award letter reprinting for Accepted Student Day events.

    SECONDARY DUTIES:

    + Assist with One Stop Office clerical projects.

    + Cover the front desk of the One Stop. This includes using strong customer service skills while triaging appointments and walk-in traffic for all 4 offices in the One Stop area.

    + Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    You need:

    + Basic computer skills required

    + Bachelor-s Degree preferred

    + Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds: clients, coworkers, other parties

    + Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills

    + Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
