    POSITION : MOTORSPORTS VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR, Hall Campus

     

    REPORTS TO: Dean of Applied Technology and Transportation

     

    SALARY RANGE : Dependent on education and experience

     

    EFFECTIVE : Immediately

    RESPONSIBILITIES :

    This position will instruct and supervise students in the Motorsports Vehicle Technology program. Adjunct faculty responsibilities are centered on preparing and teaching classes as assigned:

     

    • Provides professional instruction based on approved course syllabus. Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives;

    • Prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught;

    • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives;

    • Administers and grades class examinations;

    • Maintains records of student grades;

    • Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed;

    • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training areas;

    • Meets ALL required deadlines;

    • Meets with students, staff members, supervisors as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    An associate’s degree in Motorsports Technology, Automotive Technology, machine technology or a related field. 3 years of paid work experience as a Race Mechanic or Fabricator in the Motorsports industry. Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

    TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES :

    • Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials

    • Knowledge of vocational area of assignment

    • Skill in presenting subject matter

    • Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress

    • Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs

    • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners

    • Oral and written communication skills

    • Knowledge of student information/learning management systems

    • Proficiency in manual machine operations on lathes and mills.

    • MIG/TIG welding skills

    • Experience in materials and fabrication processes, including:

    o Tube Bending

    o Tube Notching

    o English Wheel

    • General working knowledge of the motorsports industry

    • Courses include:

    o Motorsports Composites

    o Fabrication Techniques

    o Introduction to Motorsports

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum & technical competencies) :

    • More than 3 years of experience in the motorsports industry including experience with a performance racing team environment

    • Post-secondary teaching experience.

    • Experience in composites – Wet Lay-up, Vacuum Bagging and Pre-preg
