    Come join the rapidly expanding Lilly Gene Therapy team at Eli Lilly! We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome therapy reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Our team works cross-functionally within our organization across multiple disease areas and platforms. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of gene therapy to patients around the world.

     

    The Early Preclinical Development team at Lilly Gene Therapy is seeking a research scientist to support the discovery, optimization, and early preclinical development of novel gene therapies, including AAV gene therapies, targeted nanoparticles, and/or gene editing technologies. The successful candidate will provide scientific expertise for our preclinical programs and will be a key driver to advance novel targets for CNS and other disorders.

    Responsibilities:

    + Set up in vivo pharmacology lab to design and conduct in vivo pharmacology studies to generate and characterize mouse models, characterize activity of genetic therapy candidates, and investigate the in vivo distribution of novel AAV capsids

    + Drive the execution of novel target projects

    + Support gene therapy project teams as an expert biologist in CNS disorders for through collaboration with cross-functional partners (e.g., target discovery, translational, regulatory, clinical, and manufacturing team) to help ensure the translation from discovery to development

    Basic Qualifications:

    + PhD in Biology or related scientific field with 3+ years of work experience in Gene Therapy or Neuroscience, or Masters in Biology or related scientific field with 10+ years of work experience in Gene Therapy or Neuroscience.

    Additional Skills/Preferences:

    + Passion, knowledge and experience in neuroscience or rare disease research.

    + Prior experience in macromolecule distribution and metabolism

    + Strong analytic thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate issues, and extract and synthesize complex issues into key focus.

    + Creative and curious. Can quickly adapt in a fast-paced working environment

    + Strong inter-personal and communication skills. Proven record to collaborate and network across a wide variety of functions and work effectively with internal and external partners

    Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

     

    $133,500 - $217,800

     

    Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
