    Description

    The Controller/Business Manager will be responsible for the financial operations of a Heavy Civil Construction company. The Controller/Business Manager will report to the and President and CFO and will be responsible for managing the business and administrative operations of the company. Controller/Business Manager will join a team of senior managers in reporting to the President and providing the senior management. The specific functions assigned to the Controller/Business Manager include company and project job cost accounting, human resources, office administration and operations, compliance and supervision of admin staff.

     

    Daily / Weekly

     

    + Review employee timecards/payroll.

    + Review and approve accounts payable (AP) invoices.

    + Select invoices for payment and generate AP reports.

    + Prepare and analyze labor reports.

     

    Monthly

     

    + Generate and review aging reports.

    + Review and input billings.

    + Prepare and distribute month-end reports.

    + Compile and analyze cost reports.

    + Conduct income statement reviews and WIP (Work in Progress) analysis.

    + Allocate equipment costs.

    + Review bank statements and reconcile with the general ledger.

    + Process contract and miscellaneous deposits.

    + Verify payroll transactions for correct GL codes, job assignments, and cost codes.

     

    Yearly

     

    + Assist with annual budget preparation and review.

    + File and manage Oregon CAT taxes and personal property tax submissions.

    + Update G&A (General & Administrative) rates.

    + Review and update subcontractor templates.

    + Update labor and equipment rates for Oregon and California.

    + Support preparation and review for the annual audit.

     

    Contract & Project Management

     

    + Review contracts and subcontracts.

    + Draft and update subcontract templates for new jobs, including FAR clauses and required pass-down provisions.

    + Review and assist with pricing of change orders.

    + Input change orders and revise project budgets accordingly.

    + Set up new jobs, including job budgets, contracts, and billing structures.

    + Labor & Union Relations

    + Review union agreements and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).

    + Participate in union-related meetings and ensure compliance with union requirements.

     

    Operational Support

     

    + Track and manage equipment usage and costs.

    + Perform miscellaneous HR-related tasks.

    + Handle miscellaneous IT/network-related issues, including computer support.

    + Track leases for properties, offices, and equipment.

    + Maintain DIR (Department of Industrial Relations) registration.

    + Manage city licenses across various locations.

    • Demonstrated ability to work closely with construction project managers, estimators, and engineers.

    • Demonstrated commitment to working in a team-oriented environment to develop policies and systems that assure compliance in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
