The candidate hired for Project Engineer will primarily be responsible for managing capital investment projects in support of Industrial Mineral Products Division. The Industrial Mineral Products Division produces roofing granules by mining rock, reducing it to a specific size and color coating. Major processes utilized at the sites include mining technologies, heavy machinery operations, material handling, particulate sizing, chemical processing, drying and curing.

Project Engineers use engineering knowledge and skills as a leader of a cross functional team to define the scope, cost and schedule for capital investment projects which support 3M’s global manufacturing and research efforts. A project engineer also participates in cost reduction, quality improvements, new process/technology development programs, and safety related activities.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

+ Managing project timelines and budgets for assigned projects.

+ Successfully interacting with multiple discipline teams including 3M plant personnel, consultants and suppliers.

+ Specifying equipment performance and design criteria.

+ Estimating capital equipment and installation costs.

+ Defining and executing competitive bidding strategy.

+ Overseeing plant equipment layout and design.

+ Coordinate construction activity.

+ Leading equipment commissioning.

+ Protecting 3M intellectual property.

+ Communicating effectively to project team, facility staff and project owners.

+ Gaining understanding of applicable codes and guidelines to insure designs meet standards.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mining Engineering from an accredited program

+ 1-3 Years Experience in project management

+ Experience in quarry mining and/or heavy industrial operations

+ Team player with the ability to contribute in a matrix environment

+ Strong oral and written communication skills

+ Demonstrated Skills including:

+ Successful capital project implementation

+ Purchasing, contracting and supplier management

+ Obtaining funding

+ Communication and team building with cross-functional members

+ Generating project scope

+ Defining problem and goals

+ Technical leadership capabilities

Work location:

+ On-site

+ Corona, CA

Travel: May include up to %5 domestic

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $98,413 - $120,282, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
