Job Title: Tool and Die TechnicianJob Description

The tool and die technician will work under minimal supervision to build, repair, rebuild, and troubleshoot dies, fixtures, tools, and machines according to prints or instructions, ensuring they meet required tolerances and customer expectations. The role includes recommending improvements in tooling and production processes and may involve training or mentoring apprentices, supplemental/contract labor, and peers.

Responsibilities

+ Build, repair, rebuild, and troubleshoot dies, fixtures, tools, and machines.

+ Recommend improvements in tooling and production processes.

+ Assist in training and mentoring apprentices and peers when needed.

+ Operate precision hand tools, lathes, grinders, mills (CNC), saws, drill presses, welders, cranes, and forklifts.

+ Ensure tooling and production equipment meet quality system standards.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in tool and die operations, including repair and grinding.

+ Ability to troubleshoot and repair production dies, fixtures, and tooling.

+ Proficiency in reading prints and using shop math.

+ Problem-solving skills to bring projects to completion.

+ High degree of mechanical ability and knowledge.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with precision hand tools, CNC machines, and other equipment.

+ Capability to perform heavy lifting and operate cranes and forklifts.

+ Knowledge of die and press sensor installation.

+ Understanding of quality systems and standards.

Work Environment

The work environment involves using a variety of tools and equipment, including precision hand tools, lathes, grinders, mills (CNC), saws, drill presses, welders, cranes, and forklifts. The role requires some heavy lifting and the operation of cranes and forklifts to move heavy dies and materials. The technician will work in a setting focused on innovation in furnishings and solutions, contributing to a globally influential design and manufacturing community.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $34.00/hr.
