Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing lesson plans, leading classes, writing and executing IEPs, evaluating student progress, and collaborating with related-services staff to ensure students thrive.

    Requirements

    Develop and implement lesson plans and modify instruction to meet the individual needs of students

    STATE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

    To work as a special education teacher in the state of Massachusetts, you need to meet the following requirements.

     

    + Special Education Degree: A Bachelor's of Science in Education with an emphasis in teaching students with special needs is recommended.

    + Required Tests and Endorsements: You must pass several tests to gain Special Education credentials.

    + Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks , including fingerprinting, are required for student safety.

    + Academic Verification: Provide proof of completing an accredited educator preparation program.
