Job Title: Electroless Nickel Operator

Job Description

The Electroless Nickel Operator is responsible for managing all processes associated with the electroless nickel plating process, including chemical bath maintenance. This role involves handling aerospace-grade parts through a series of chemical tanks to clean, rinse, and deposit nickel, enhancing the quality of the parts.

Responsibilities

+ Rack and process electroless nickel plating line to treat aerospace-grade parts through chemical tanks.

+ Set and maintain chemical processing equipment and baths within operational parameters.

+ Carefully load racks in plating tanks, ensuring proper temperature and chemistry.

+ Compute the length of plating cycles and monitor timing.

+ Observe gauges and adjust valves on tanks to maintain required operating specifications.

+ Read blueprints and traveler documents to ensure product specifications are met.

+ Follow workflow dispatch, accommodating schedule changes for priority jobs.

+ Report any quality issues with parts or chemical baths to supervisors or Quality Engineers immediately.

+ Assist Quality and Lab personnel in conducting chemical process evaluations.

+ Perform preventative maintenance on department equipment.

+ Maintain a safe work environment and use all required Personal Protective Equipment.

+ Perform minor equipment maintenance such as cleaning, rack stripping, and changing filters.

Essential Skills

+ Thorough knowledge of process chemistry.

+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.

+ Electroplating experience.

+ Two years’ experience in the Wet Process department or a related chemical environment.

+ Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and interpret bar graphs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ High school diploma or GED; three months or more related experience and/or training.

+ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

+ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned production areas. Shifts are available on a first shift from 6 am to 2:30 pm, and a mid-shift from 10 am to 6:30 pm. The role requires physical abilities such as lifting up to 50 pounds, alternating between standing and sitting for long periods, and distinguishing colors. Personal Protective Equipment must be used at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, Arizona.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.05 - $28.57/hr.
