Job Title: Rigger (45 J2-J4)

Job Description

This role requires you to move and stage equipment and materials, align, block, and brace large items, secure and tie down items for transportation, perform general labor duties, and assist other trades personnel with equipment and material needs.

Responsibilities

+ Move and stage equipment and material efficiently.

+ Align, block, and brace equipment and other large items securely.

+ Secure and tie down items for safe transportation.

+ Perform general labor duties as required.

+ Assist other trades personnel in equipment and material needs.

Essential Skills

+ Rigger experience with crane operations, fastening, bracing, blocking, aligning, mounting, and securing.

+ Shipboard experience with rigging.

+ Rapid Gate eligibility.

+ 1-5 years of recent rigging experience, depending on J classification.

+ Ability to follow work order instructions.

+ Proficiency in using hand tools.

+ Mechanical inclination.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Preferred Rigger 1 Certification and Crane Signalman Certification.

Work Environment

You will be working in a shipyard or outdoor environment, supporting work at Nassco and potentially at BAE, MHI, and Norfolk Naval. The shift is from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, and you must be able to work weekends, usually Saturdays, and be available for overtime, typically 2 hours before and after the start of the shift. Average work hours per week range from 40-55 hours, depending on workload.

This is a Contract position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
