**Are you a hardworking and dependable construction laborer looking to be part of a skilled team?** We are seeking motivated individuals to support heavy equipment operators and leads in various construction tasks. Your role as a ground crew member will be essential in ensuring precision, efficiency, and safety while assisting with excavation projects.

Responsibilities:

+ Support equipment operators by maintaining a clear and safe work area while trenches are being dug

+ Set and verify grade levels to ensure accuracy per plans and specifications

+ Lay pipes and install asphalt and/or concrete for various infrastructure projects

+ Assist with the installation of sanitary sewer lines, waterlines, and storm sewer lines

+ Gather and organize required materials for daily tasks

+ Load and unload project materials at designated laydown yards

+ Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols

+ Follow directions from experienced operators and leads to ensure smooth operations

Required Qualifications:

+ 1-2+ years of outdoor labor experience

+ Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment while following instructions from supervisors

+ Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

+ Previous experience operating equipment, laying pipes, or working with asphalt

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings

+ OSHA 30-Hour Training

+ Additional certifications such as CPR or Confined Space Training

+ Any level of asphalt experience is a significant advantage

Work Environment:

This role is an outdoor position requiring work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Work schedules are typically Monday-Friday, beginning at 7 AM, with 8-10 hour shifts totaling 45-50 hours per week. Some Saturday work may be required based on weather conditions and project deadlines. The position involves working in trenches, around dirt, asphalt, and concrete. Employees must wear appropriate protective gear, including jeans, steel-toed boots, and company-provided PPE.

This is a Contract-to-Hire position based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
