Job Title: Assembler

Job Description

Summary: Building interior units, repetitive work, will build different size units, proficient mechanically, mechanical aptitude, hand tools, power tools, drills, sockets, and tape measure. Will need to get on a ladder at times, use of scissor lift, not afraid to get dirty, they provided masks and suits since working with carbon felt graphite, strapping units up to lift off the ground, hand strength to bend wire ties, add felt and shield to units, cut felt to length, blueprints are not required but are a plus, forklift is not required but is a plus. Works with close, direct supervision to learn how to effectively lay out work, set up appropriate machines or equipment to meet or exceed assembly demands and customer requirements, per design specifications and published schedules. Efficiently utilizes resources to minimize scrap, materials, and labor.

Responsibilities

+ Adhere to all published company guidelines and procedures, including I.S.O. and safety guidelines and procedures.

+ Learn to successfully perform job requirements under close supervision.

+ Read and interpret blueprints.

+ Set up and operate power tools and equipment such as band saw, tack welder, stud welder, manual hand brake, drill, grinder, etc.

+ Handle and work with different types of material, such as felt insulation, ceramic, graphite, carbon fiber, molybdenum, stainless steel, carbon steel, etc.

+ Plan layout, parts positioning, component fit-up, assembly sequence and equipment necessary to complete the job.

+ Build various types of Hot Zone assemblies from blueprints, including installation of shield packages and insulation; ensure proper fit of ceramic and graphite parts or other parts specified by engineering.

+ Cut and install insulation using required tooling and protective safety devices.

+ Operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.

+ Document work process, issues, and usage of material or excess material/parts.

+ Load and unload trucks in a timely manner.

+ Prepare and load parts carts for movement to the assembly from pick lists.

+ Accurately accomplish any assigned task with supervision.

+ Maintain and turn in daily labor reports.

+ Communicate with team leader and supervisor in all forms of communication.

+ Organize work area and keep it clean and safe daily.

+ Supply own hand tools per published list.

+ Perform other duties as needed/assigned.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, angles, and volume.

+ Knowledge of, or ability to learn, basic concepts of geometry.

+ Ability to learn in a timely manner how to safely and appropriately use power tools and equipment such as bandsaw, tack welder, manual hand brake, drill, grinder, etc.

+ Ability to learn blueprint reading and interpretation in a timely manner.

+ Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend all forms of written and/or verbal instructions.

+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and other employees of the organization.

+ Ability to learn and maintain forklift and overhead crane certification.

+ Hand and power tools experience, including sockets, drills, and tape measure.

+ Mechanical aptitude.

+ Solid work history.

+ Some level of mechanical assembly experience or other experience that shows mechanical aptitude.

+ High school diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Blueprint reading is a plus.

+ Forklift experience is preferred.

Work Environment

Facility offers a 1st shift: 6:00 am--2:30 pm, Monday--Friday. It is a hot work environment in the summer, not afraid to get dirty, organized, and well-lit.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pecatonica, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
