    Job Title: Marine Electrician

    Job Description

    As a Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems aboard vessels. This role involves laying out, pulling, and installing cables and conduits, preparing work areas, drilling holes, grinding metal surfaces, and welding mounting equipment. You will also test electrical equipment and perform additional tasks as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    + Prepare work areas, drill holes, and grind metal surfaces.

    + Install welds and hook up electrical equipment.

    + Lay out, pull, rip out, repair, and install cables and conduits.

    + Test electrical equipment to ensure proper functionality.

    + Read and interpret composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manual.

    + Remove scrap and perform general cleanup duties.

    + Conduct electrical repairs and new construction aboard private vessels.

    + Troubleshoot, disassemble, and inspect electrical equipment.

    + Clean and reassemble electrical equipment, and perform operational tests.

    + Utilize common electrical measuring instruments and electronic measuring devices.

    Essential Skills

    + Two years of marine electrical experience or four years of general electrical experience.

    + Knowledge of Navy AC (60 and 400 Hz) and DC electrical systems.

    + Ability to troubleshoot and work on electrical systems such as switchboards, switchgear, and distribution panels.

    + Proficiency in using electrical measuring instruments like voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters.

    + Capability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

    Work Environment

     

    Work is primarily in new construction. You may need to obtain DBIDS to perform work at 32nd St Naval Base or North Island. The role requires the ability to work all shifts and handle tasks in various environmental conditions.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
