• Data Engineer

    TEKsystems (Reston, VA)


    TEKsystems' client is seeking a Data Engineer to work on a remote basis for a 6 month contract to hire role with our client. Ideal candidates will be in EST or CST, but can consider other areas.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    1. Data engineer who has worked with ML experts and their requirements to optimize columnar databases using Python as a back end technology (use clickhouse for columnar database *******************Person has to have Clickhouse experience*****************

    2. Need to have worked within a cloud environment, our customer is AWS so that is the preference but open to other technologies

    3. This person should not only be comfortable optimizing databases but modeling them as well because optimization comes after modeling

    Description

    Responsibilities

    - Design and implement scalable ETL pipelines for telemetry and AI data processing.

     

    - Lead the migration from Vertica to ClickHouse for OLAP workloads.

     

    - Develop transformation jobs that support AI-driven RCA and anomaly detection.

     

    - Integrate structured and semi-structured data sources into unified models.

     

    - Collaborate with AI, Platform, and Human-Centered AI teams on data infrastructure.

     

    - Optimize data access and query performance using ClickHouse tuning.

     

    - Manage and evolve Superset dashboards used by internal teams and leadership.

     

    - Ensure security and RBAC compliance in all data access patterns.

    Required Skills & Experience

    - 5+ years in data engineering or similar backend data roles.

     

    - Deep experience with ClickHouse or equivalent columnar databases (e.g., Vertica, Redshift).

     

    - Expertise in ETL/ELT frameworks and data transformation logic.

     

    - Hands-on experience with Apache Superset, ODBC, and data access layers.

     

    - Proficiency in Python, SQL, and pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).

     

    - Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance tuning, and telemetry data.

     

    - Familiarity with secure data handling and compliance frameworks.

     

    Nice-to-Have

     

    - Experience supporting AI/ML pipelines or RCA systems.

     

    - Prior work with observability stacks or streaming telemetry data.

     

    - Familiarity with DevOps tooling and secure CI/CD pipelines.

     

    - Experience working in Agile sprints and Jira-based ticket routing.

    - Works closely with: QA, Platform, AI, and Ingestion Teams

    The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
