THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Labor Law Investigator, your responsibilities will include receiving and screening complaints, conducting audits of payroll records, timecards and related materials, and facilitating conferences with claimants and employers, when appropriate. You will have the opportunity to educate employers, organizations, and employees of the requirements of labor laws and of recent legal decisions affecting the application of such laws. Work involves inspecting businesses or projects to investigate potential violations. Following investigations, you will prepare detailed reports of investigations and file weekly itinerary and case summaries with the Investigation Supervisor. Timely and detailed work notes of case progress are essential. Effective communication with employers, employees, and supervisors concerning current investigation status is key to this position. Additionally, you will prepare case narratives; both written and verbal testimony for cases that proceed to legal action.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment, Home headquartered
+ Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
+ Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
+ This position requires you to possess and maintain federally compliant identification such as a U.S. Passport, REAL ID, or Military ID. Proof of possession will be needed at the time of a conditional offer of employment.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year of technical investigative or construction and trades experience and a bachelor’s degree;or
+ Two years of technical investigative or construction and trades experience and an associate's degree in a field related to investigative or construction and trades work;or
+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
+ You must have the ability to fluently speak, read and write in Spanish.
+ You must live in or be willing to move to the geographic region the Harrisburg District Office covers by date of hire. Expenses will not be paid. The following counties are served by the Harrisburg District Office: Cumberland, Dauphin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York.
+ You must demonstrate ability to adhere to the values and ethics of the Department of Labor and Industry.
+ You must demonstrate the ability to work with professionalism, discretion and good work ethic.
+ You must have solid written and verbal communication skills.
+ You must show initiative and problem-solving skills.
+ You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
+ Experience in conducting investigations or working in construction and trades, business management, financial services, accounting, or conflict resolution.
+ An associate's degree or greater, in a field related to investigative work in construction and trades, business management, financial services, accounting, or conflict resolution.
+ Experience enforcing labor standards or labor and employment laws.
+ Experience testifying at administrative or court hearings.
