Job Description

The Junior Systems Administrator / Information Security Officer will assist in maintaining, optimizing and securing the agency’s computer systems, applications and servers in a fast-paced environment. The role requires exceptional communication skills, experience administering a Windows Server infrastructure and experience managing an Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solution.
Examples of Work
+ Administer, configure, and support complex server-based systems
+ Perform system updates, patches and upgrades using Windows Server Update Services and Microsoft Intune
+ Maintain server-based systems including customization, configuration, installation, and testing
+ Configure Group Managed Service Accounts
+ Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platform administration
+ Monitor and respond to detections within the EDR platform
+ Conduct thorough triage of EDR detections through critical analysis and investigative methodologies
+ Assist in investigating and responding to security incidents, including analyzing logs, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing remediation strategies while thoroughly documenting and communicating investigative findings
+ Help manage and monitor access controls to ensure that only authorized users have access to sensitive systems and data.
+ Evaluate application requests for approval
+ Contribute to the development and delivery of security awareness training programs to educate employees on best practices and potential threats.
+ Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of security incidents, vulnerabilities, and remediation efforts.
+ Assist in ensuring compliance with internal security policies and procedures
+ Assist with ensuring compliance with external security polices (example: CJIS)
+ Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices to help protect the organization against emerging risks.
+ Work on various cybersecurity projects, such as implementing new security tools, conducting risk assessments, and improving security processes.
+ Microsoft Intune administration and policy creation
+ Administer and support core Microsoft 365 applications and technologies
+ Create and maintain training and documentation on existing and new technologies
+ Take responsibility for projects and solutions as required by strategic initiatives
+ Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administrative tasks
+ Assist with managing Microsoft Entra, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other critical infrastructure services
+ Maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer
+ Handle escalated support tickets, diagnosing and resolving complex technical challenges in a timely manner
+ Assist with and participate in disaster recover drills and testing

+ Proficiency with modern Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms
+ Proficiency with current Microsoft Server Operating Systems, Windows 11, Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
+ Proactive attitude with the ability to take initiative without daily supervision
+ Availability to travel for workshops, training and seminars (which could include overnight stays)
+ Experience with VMware ESXi
Open Requirements/Supplemental Information
+ Associate’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field - required.
+ Minimum 5 years of progressive IT systems administration experience supporting a Windows Server infrastructure.
+ Minimum 2 years administering and responding to detected threats using an Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platform (examples, CrowdStrike, Sentinel One, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint)
Preferred:
+ A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a relevant technical discipline - strongly preferred.
+ Experience administering Microsoft Server version 2019 and 2022
+ Experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE)
+ Experience administering Microsoft Intune, Entra and Active Directory
+ Experience configuring Windows Autopilot
Licenses and Certifications
+ A valid Class E Driver’s license is required to be maintained during employment
+ Must meet standards required to obtain a City of Jacksonville driver’s certification
+ Must maintain CJIS certification during employment
