Overview
GCG is currently seeking a **Sr. Director, Total Rewards** to join our Human Resources leadership team and lead the strategic direction of our compensation, benefits, payroll, and HR administrative programs.
As our Sr. Total Rewards Director, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing a comprehensive total rewards strategy that supports business growth and employee engagement across a geographically dispersed, multi-site workforce. You’ll be responsible for designing compensation architecture, managing benefits programs, overseeing payroll operations, and ensuring ongoing compliance with employment regulations.
You will also lead a team to identify and implement process enhancements that strengthen HR operational efficiency, data integrity, and service delivery.
This position is based in our Rosemont, IL headquarters and requires a regular in-office presence.
What you’ll do
Compensation Management
+ Design and manage competitive compensation structures, including base pay, and incentive plans
+ Build and implement compensation architecture (job analysis, job leveling, job spec consolidation, etc.)
+ Conduct market benchmarking and analysis to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness
+ Oversee job evaluations, salary surveys, and compensation analytics
+ Lead the annual compensation cycle (merit, bonus, equity), including planning, budgeting, and execution
+ Collaborate with business leaders on compensation planning and decision-making
+ **Preferred:** Previous experience designing sales compensation plans
Benefits Management
+ Lead strategy and administration for employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, 401K, wellness, etc.)
+ Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure competitive cost and service delivery
+ Oversee benefits communication and education for employees
+ Monitor program utilization and recommend data-drivenenhancements
Payroll Management
+ Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing in partnership with internal teams and external vendors
+ Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
+ Partner with Finance on payroll reporting and audits
+ Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements
Compliance & Risk Management
+ Maintain compliance with all relevant labor laws, tax regulations, and benefit requirements (e.g., ACA, FLSA, ERISA)
+ Track regulatory changes and implement policy or process updates as needed
+ Lead internal audits and support external audit activities related to total rewards
HR Administration & Data Management
+ Oversee HRIS data integrity, reporting, and analytics
+ Establish SOPs and ensure consistent, accurate recordkeeping
+ Champion system optimization and improvements that enhance HR operations and employee experience
+ Support ADP data cleanup and ongoing system improvements
What you’ll bring
Education & Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
+ 12+ years of progressive HR experience in compensation, benefits, and total rewards
+ Experience supporting multi-site, multi-state employee populations (international experience a plus)
+ 401(k) program oversight
+ HRIS and payroll system proficiency — ADP experience strongly preferred
+ Previous experience designing sales compensation plans preferred but not required

+ Proficiency with analytics & MS Excel (pivot tables, trending, and compensation modeling) required
Preferred Certifications
+ Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
+ Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)
+ SHRM-SCP or SPHR
