Position: Special Education Administrator - One Webster Learning Center (Posting number 2526-3376)
Start Date: August 4, 2025
Position Summary: The special education administrator will supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the operational and instructional programs of the elementary school level One Webster Learning (OWL) Center. OWL is a K-5 special education 6:1:1 program in the Webster Central School District for students with social emotional and behavioral needs.
Supervisor: Directly responsible to the Executive Director of Student Services
Qualifications:
+ Must hold a New York State Certification as a School Administrator and Supervisor or its equivalent.
+ Experience as a Special Education Teacher, School Psychologist, Behavior Specialist, or other related service provider.
+ Experience working with students with disabilities supporting their social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
+ Candidates need strong instructional and communication skills.
+ Requires a strong belief system in the ability of all children to learn and grow despite any challenges they may face.
Essential Responsibilities:
Educational Program
+ Supervises, coordinates and evaluates instructional programs of the OWL.
+ Works cooperatively with building and district administration regarding the development of the instructional program, professional learning, assessment program, family support program, and response to student emotional and behavioral needs.
+ Advises and supervises teachers in planning universally designed lessons (with embedded social emotional learning and mindfulness practices) so all students are able to access the learning standards, along with assessment and monitoring of student achievement.
+ Establishes links among curriculum content, teaching materials, teaching strategies, and assessment instruments across disciplines.
+ Assists teacher collaboration to infuse social, emotional, and coping skills and knowledge into core and special classes.
+ Recommends changes in the program that meet the needs of the students and families and monitors their implementation.
+ Serves as a resource for matters relating to educational trends, methods, materials and research findings.
+ Works collaboratively with the mental health team to integrate and align core elements of instruction with family support programs.
+ Serves as Extended School Year (ESY) coordinator for the K-5 OWL program.
+ Serves as sub-CSE chair for the program.
Personnel
+ Works cooperatively with building and district administration to develop staffing needs for the interdisciplinary team model for the program.
+ Assists in the design and implementation of orientation programs for new staff, student teachers, and substitutes.
+ Assists in the screening and selection of teaching and support staff.
+ Consults with building and district administration regarding recommendations for tenure.
+ Observes classes and evaluates teacher and support staff performance as it relates to student learning per APPR guidelines.
+ Facilitates the improvement of instructional effectiveness and communication among teaching and support staff.
+ Assists in the preparation of training that meets individual staff needs consistent with program or departmental goals.
+ Leads the delivery of professional learning for all staff.
Management
+ Assists in the preparation of the program budget.
+ Facilitates the communication and paperwork systems of the program.
+ Facilitates district safety protocols in conjunction with the building administrative team.
+ Works collaboratively with building and district administration on facility needs, communication needs, and inclusion opportunities.
+ Is an effective liaison with families in matters related to instructional programming and student needs.
+ Assists in development of meaningful programs for district and/or community groups when requested.
+ Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services.
