    SUMMARY

    The Metal Finishing Technician will be responsible for overseeing the installation, operation, and support of metal finishing equipment sold to customers. This role includes evaluating, developing, and implementing finishing processes, maintenance procedures, and training documentation. Key responsibilities involve providing technical support, troubleshooting equipment issues, improving system performance, and ensuring seamless integration into customer operations. The specialist will collaborate with internal teams, customers, and manufacturers to optimize equipment functionality. Strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively are essential. This position requires travel across North America for equipment installation, training, and service support.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Serve as the sole point of contact for all metal finishing equipment operations, from installation to ongoing support with customers.

     

    Independently manage the installation, setup, operation, and maintenance of deburring systems.

     

    Develop and document finishing processes, maintenance procedures, training materials, and work instructions from the ground up.

     

    Provide hands-on training and support to customers and internal teams, ensuring proper machine operation and best practices.

     

    Troubleshoot and resolve machine performance issues, surface inconsistencies, and process inefficiencies.

     

    Work closely with management and customers to ensure solutions align with customer needs.

     

    Travel independently to customer sites across North America for equipment installation, service, and training.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.

     

    Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and meet deadlines.

     

    Effectively troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components.

     

    Communicate ideas, strategies, problems, and solutions in both verbal and written forms.

     

    Perform analyses/work using some independent judgment.

     

    Must be willing to travel for business.

     

    Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    5 years of experience in metal finishing, fabrication, or a related field.

    A 2-year degree with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience is also acceptable.

     

    Familiarity with electrical schematics, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CAD, AX, ADP, and Smart Sheet.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Frequent bending, twisting, standing, speaking, hearing, kneeling, and crouching.

     

    Repetitive use of hands, squeezing, and keyboarding.

     

    Frequent lifting and carrying of 1–10 lbs; recurrent lifting of 11–20 lbs; occasional lifting of 21–50+ lbs.

     

    Constant pushing and pulling of 1–50 lbs; infrequent pushing/pulling over 50 lbs with handcarts or wheeled devices.

     

    Good visual and color acuity required.
