Job Description
Candidate responsibilities will focus on **c** **orporate-wide air emissions monitoring, accounting,** **data management, analyses, forecasting, disclosure reporting, regulatory monitoring, and compliance support.** Candidate’s responsibilities may also include **air permit** and project support across a range of programs (e.g., Title V, NSR/PSD, PTI, NSPS, NESHAP, etc.). Self-motivation and high proficiency in mathematical skills, data management and associated software is a must.
The individual exhibits expert or advanced level proficiency that enables them to serve as leader within the assigned organization as a subject matter expert. Works in a team environment to support primarily for power generating stations, company facilities (e.g., transmission and distribution, service centers, office buildings, etc.), and commercial business operations. Electric utility, direct regulatory experience within our service territory (OH, WV, VA, KY, TN, IN, MI, OK, TX, LA, or AR), and environmental disclosure reporting (e.g., CEMS, CAMD, EEI, e-GGRT, TCFD, SASB, GRI, etc.) experience preferred.
Based on education, experience and interview, this opportunity will be filled commensurately at either title. For this posting, minimum requirements are stated at the lower grade. Increased expectations are at the higher grade.
What you'll do:
Environmental Specialist, Principal PG 8($96,110-124,940)
+ Identifies, clarifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to complex compliance problems that require multi-functional, or organizational, interfacing and/or multi-disciplined analytical techniques.
+ Leads, facilitates and coordinates work activities of others within work group, team, department, or those external to the company and assumes the role of project or function manager for assigned compliance tasks.
+ Serves as an internal expert resource in a specialized environmental technical or regulatory program area, and is highly recognized and regarded by those external to the company.
+ Develops, recommends, and implements plans that include all scheduling, resource, and cost information and control required to address complex compliance problems that require the input and efforts of a wide array of entities both internal and external to the company.
+ Identifies areas for needed environmental research, and initiates and coordinates relevant projects.
+ Leads in the preparation and presentation of complex technical subjects, clearly, concisely, and persuasively, bringing in ancillary issues before senior management, professional organizations, regulatory bodies, etc.
+ Identifies and initiates pro-active changes to regulations and standards, in the interests of the company, and engages multiple stakeholders in the process, networking throughout AEP, other companies, professional organizations, and regulatory agencies.
+ Serves in a leadership position within professional and business environmental regulatory and research organizations.

+ Bachelor's degree (environmental science, biology, chemistry, natural resources, or ecology or related field)
_Work Experience requirements:_
+ Minimum of 10 years of environmental experience.
_OTHER REQUIREMENTS:_
+ Must be available to work overtime, call-out overtime and shift work, as required.
+ Travel requirements are expected 10-25% of the time Physical demand level is Sedentary
+ Individuals with a Master's or Doctorate degree may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
+ Registration in recognized associations and organizations for environmental professionals is encouraged.
+ 40 hours per week with some overtime required.
+ Periodic travel required.
Environmental Specialist, Consultant PG 9($112,869-146,730)
What you'll do:
+ Interprets regulations, policy, codes, and/or standards and provides guidance and recommendations in the context of complex compliance situations.
+ Identifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to the most complex problems that are unique to the company and industry and requires extensive specialized knowledge, or the development of knowledge and techniques.
+ Leads, facilitates and coordinates work activities of others within work group, team, department, or those external to the company and assumes the role of project or function manager for assigned compliance tasks.
+ Serves as an internal expert resource in a specialized environmental technical or regulatory program area and is highly recognized and regarded by those external to the company.
+ Develops, recommends, and implements plans to address the most complex compliance problems that require the input and efforts of a wide array of entities both internal and external to the company.
+ Proficient in written and verbal communication and leads in the preparation and presentation of the most complex technical subjects, clearly, concisely, and persuasively, bringing in ancillary issues before senior management, professional organizations, regulatory bodies, etc.
+ Identifies and initiates pro-active changes to policy, regulations, and standards, in the interests of the company, and engages multiple stakeholders in the process, networking throughout AEP, other companies, professional organizations, and regulatory agencies.
+ Serves in a leadership position within professional and business environmental regulatory and research organizations.
+ Responsive to and supportive of stakeholders which may include the need for information on a time-sensitive or expedited schedule.
+ Work location is officing in Columbus OH, New Albany OH, Roanoke VA, Tulsa OK, or Shreveport LA
