    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciencesandfour (4) years of professional experience in one of the physical or natural sciences, environmental protection, regulation or health; or

    A master's degree from an accredited college or university in a major as described aboveandthree (3) years of professional experience as described above;or

    A doctorate from an accredited college or university in a major as described aboveandone (1) year of professional experience as described above.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The incumbent of this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, FAC.

     

    Frequent travel required.

     

    Must be able to work outside of normal working hours, including occasional weekends and/or holidays as directed.

     

    Must be willing and able to be deployed from assigned headquarters for extended periods of time for incident response activities.

     

    Some alternate work hours required to accomplish duties and responsibilities when directed.

    NOTES:

    Successful applicants must pass a background screening, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.

    JOB DUTIES:

    Direct and supervise activities of the Inspection Coordination Section to ensure that inspections and investigations required to implement Chapters 388, 482, 487, 576, 578 and 580, F.S., and associated rules are assigned, documented, and conducted in a timely manner. Ensure that these activities are done in accordance with established policies and procedures. Keep the Bureau Chief and division management apprised of emerging issues, high visibility cases and cases which may require policy decisions.

     

    Develop and implement policies and procedures of the Inspection Coordination Section to ensure that inspections and investigations required to implement Chapters 388, 482, 487, 576, 578 and 580, F.S., and associated rules are assigned, documented, and conducted in a timely manner. Track performance of section and report on performance as directed.

     

    Ensure that reports of alleged violations and complaints received by the bureau are acknowledged and, where appropriate, referred to field inspection units for investigation or other response, and that these activities are done in accordance with established policies and procedures.

     

    Monitor the implementation, efficacy and ongoing improvements of the peripheral computer databases and websites that support this program including the Enterprise Imaging System (EIS), Fumigation website, Licensing Database and Enforcement Database. Coordinate with OATS and the DIO as necessary to ensure these systems meet the evolving needs of internal and external customers and recommend improvements when necessary.

     

    Communicate verbally and in writing with complainants and respondents to provide accurate information on investigation status. Serve as the bureau’s AES Cares primary contact. Serve as Records Liaison in the disposition of records. Responsible for gathering information for public records requests to include tracking through the maintenance of a spreadsheet with the required information for future reporting, as requested by the Bureau Chief or Division Director. Prepare replies to consumers in a timely manner.

     

    Conduct background checks on potential violators or others associated with alleged illegal operations via CLEAR System in order to gain necessary information for investigation cases.

     

    Participate in the goals and priority setting and tactics selection processes within the division in order to guide the activities of the Inspection Coordination Section.

     

    Supervise assigned employees, evaluate performance and prepare performance assessments in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsible and accountable for managing budget/dollars/resources (staff, vehicles, computers, cell phones, etc.) of any assigned programs in an efficient and accountable manner. Responsible for ensuring that assigned program areas have operational procedures and processes which result in accountability and compliance with division and department policies and procedures.

     

    Serve as representative of the department in administrative hearings, councils, court proceedings or meetings as necessary.

     

    Participate in special projects and incident response activities, and perform other duties as necessary and directed.
