    WHO WE ARE:

    The FDACS Office of Agricultural Water Policy (OAWP) works with agricultural producers, industry groups, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the university system, and the Florida water management districts to develop and implement Agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs) addressing water quality and water conservation. Agricultural BMPs are practical, cost-effective actions that agricultural producers can take to conserve water and reduce the amount of pesticides, fertilizers, animal waste, and other pollutants entering our water resources.

    WHAT WE DO:

    The FDACS Office of Agricultural Water Policy performs a variety of critical roles that include the following: develop and assist with the implementation of Agricultural BMPs; conduct agricultural water quality and water supply policy and planning; administer a cost-share program for the implementation of BMPs; partner with other entities in BMP research and demonstrations; provide mobile irrigation lab services; and offer data and technical assistance to producers, stakeholders, and state agencies.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    We are looking for a highly motivated employee to provide administrative and clerical support to the Director and Assistant Director of Office of Agricultural Water Policy. As an OPS Administrative Assistant II, you will perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

     

    + Communicate with staff regarding needs for materials, supplies, and equipment.

    + Work with the FDACS Office of Agricultural Water Policy Personnel Liaison to process personnel-related items and perform other related duties as requested by the Personnel Liaison and Leadership.

    + Answer incoming phone calls as needed, providing information to callers or routing calls as appropriate.

    + Ensure positive customer service is provided to all callers, visitors and customers.

    + Assist with resolving complaints and questions from stakeholders including written, electronic and telephone communications.

    + Make travel arrangements and arrange travel itineraries for staff. Complete and track authorizations to incur travel, and complete travel reimbursement requests using the Statewide Travel Management System (STMS). Reconcile purchasing card transactions/ Facilitate registration and handle payment for conferences and trainings. Follow all department guidelines, policies and procedures for travel

    + Perform fleet tracking. Collect and maintain copies of vehicle logs, gas receipts, etc., from staff; review the vehicle logs for completeness prior to submittal; coordinate maintenance of vehicles, as needed.

    + Responsible for coordinating conference calls and scheduling meetings.

    + Make copies of correspondence and other printed material as needed.

    + Create folders/notebooks of documents and organize information handouts for presentations.

    + Assist with development of presentations, including content, editing and formatting.

    + Merge letters and addresses for correspondence.

    + Mail letters and packages and assists with processing of incoming and outgoing mail.

    + Light data entry.

    + Light filing, including maintaining organized hardcopy and electronic files

    + Manage and coordinate special projects as assigned.

    + Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Assistant Director or Personnel Liaison.

    THE DIFFERENCE YOU WILL MAKE:

    The Agricultural BMP program benefits agricultural producers because it gives them management strategies, tools, and practices that will improve their water quality, conserve water use, and protect water resources. The program is designed to be technologically and economically feasible for producers, and staff assists them in obtaining the necessary resources to implement BMPs. You will be a vital component in assisting agricultural producers become more nutrient and water efficient while maintaining or improving productivity levels. You will also indirectly impact the lives of Florida citizens by contributing to environmental stewardship, enhancing water quality, and aiding with water conservation.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of administrative experience.

    A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.

     

    Administrative or clerical experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

     

    An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals six (6) years can substitute for the above requirements.

     

    Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

    PAY:

    Hourly pay rate of $25.00.
