The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program Grant is a federally funded TRIO program that prepares eligible participants for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. Participants are from disadvantaged backgrounds and have demonstrated strong academic potential. The McNair grant program works closely with participants as they complete their undergraduate requirements. McNair staff members work with students to prepare them to apply to and enter graduate programs and track their progress through the successful completion of advanced degrees. The program’s goal is to increase the attainment of doctoral degrees by students from underrepresented segments of society.

Description of Job
The Director/PI of TRIO McNair is under the supervision of the Dean of Graduate Studies, and serves as the fiscal officer for the grant. Moreover, this position oversees and manages administrative staff. The Director/PI works closely with the Assistant Director of the McNair Grant to ensure the budget is well-managed and grant funds are being used appropriately; eligible scholars are recruited and admitted; sufficient programming is taking place; and staff are well-trained. This full-time administrative professional position is the primary staff member responsible for adhering to federal guidelines and ensuring program objectives are being met. According to established institutional and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies, the Director/PI must maintain confidentiality and accurate student records and processes. The position performs other duties as needed.
This position is 100% federally funded through September 30th, 2028 by the TRIO Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program Grant. This is a 5-year renewable grant; continuation of the position beyond that date is dependent on grant renewal.
Primary Duties
Fiscal Officer
Serves as fiscal officer for the McNair grant. Oversees budget and works with University personnel to adhere to both University and Federal standards. Completes monthly drawdowns, oversees time and effort reporting, approves all line-item expenditures.
Program planning and design, development and evaluation
Implements program policies, student performance and discipline guidelines, and program evaluation; conducts formative and summative evaluation to guide program improvements; coordinates design and development of program components; guides services and curriculum development and maintains progress towards completion of objectives; leads staff meetings and team development sessions; attends relevant University committee meetings and TRIO professional meetings; oversees data management, budget planning, and creates an annual performance report.
Coordination and supervision
Coordinates with the graduate school to develop cultural and graduate school preparation events, professional development training, conferences; works with key stakeholders across campus. Hires, trains, supervises and works with administrative staff.
Recruitment, academic support and travel
Oversees recruitment, identification, and selection of required number of verified program participants; coordinates retention strategies, and provides information and referrals to participants about relevant resources. Travels with students including driving them and/or flying to conferences when necessary.
Ancillary Duties
Participates in professional organizations, campus committees, and other duties as assigned.
Salary Range
$65,000 to $70,000

Minimum Qualifications
+ Doctoral or terminal degree from an accredited college or university
+ Valid and unrestricted driver’s license and ability to transport students in a 15-passenger van
+ Effective written communication skills
+ Minimum of three (3) years' experience inthree or more of the following:
+ staff supervision
+ budget management
+ program development and evaluation
+ reporting and compliance with federal guidelines
+ Minimum of five years of experience inone or more of the following:
+ collegiate teaching
+ program administration
+ publication of research materials
+ working with federal TRIO or other academic support programs
+ Demonstrated commitment and ability to motivate, educate, and mentor students from a wide range of backgrounds similar to that of Colorado State University Pueblo
+ Experience in positions or activities that required:
+ Proficiency in using MS Office software
+ Effective verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
+ Proficient using databases to track student data, create forms, flyers, and generate reports
+ Ability to maintain website and social media platforms
+ Knowledge of Kuali, including travel authorizations, purchase orders, drawdowns, allocating charges from travel and purchasing cards etc.
+ Education, specialized training, professional experience, and/or other experience that would assist McNair-eligible students in overcoming barriers to doctoral education
+ Experience creating procedures for tracking confidential materials and data
+ Experience working on annual performance reviews for federal grants
