Responsibilities
PRINTING PRESS OPERATOR
Sets up, operates and monitors the press and its associated equipment to print required graphics on plastic film in such a manner that results in the production of printed film on a timely basis that meets all the customer's print specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Reviews Production Order Form and Brand Copy specifications to insure the correct press equipment, packaging supplies and raw materials are available to print film that meets the customer's specifications.
• Performs press equipment setups within the machine's print capabilities and ranges. Set ups may include but are not limited to the following:
• Sets up and controls press (positioning of cylinders in press, threading of film, adjusting of transfer and printing rolls, regulating of press speed, setting of drying temperature, etc).
• If required blends proper ink mixtures.
• Sets up and adjusts ink air pumps.
• Proper backing and mounting of plates on cylinders
• Knowledge in handling and storage of cylinders.
• Periodically observes and checks printed film coming off the press and if detects substandard product or print takes immediate corrective action to eliminate any causes of sub-standard product and bring print back into spec.
• Properly fills out production and quality reports on a timely basis.
• Monitors press equipment to insure equipment is operating properly and performs routine maintenance on equipment.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
• To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
• Must be able to set up and operate press equipment that includes but is not limited to the press, ink pumps and cylinders.
• Must be proficient in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills to evaluate and monitor production reports, quality reports, packing lists and labels.
• Must be able to understand plastic weight, bag count and footage formulas when determining customer's press specifications in the Production Order Form.
• Must be able to translate customer specifications in the Production Order Form and Brand Copy into assembling the proper mix of press equipment and raw materials to produce a printed product that meets all the customer's specifications.
