Description
Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a full time Medical Office Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support & customer service in our busy Audiology & Speech clinic with generous time off and other benefits. Previous medical insurance & billing experience preferred.
This position will be primarily located at our Buffalo location (free onsite parking!) and will travel as needed to provide coverage at our other clinic locations in West Seneca, Williamsville, and Niagara Falls. Must have a valid drivers license and own transportation available as may travel to other sites. Clinics are open Mon- Fri, flexible scheduling, with a 4 day work week as an option Monday-Thursday.
Essential Functions:
+ Greeting patients: welcoming patients and their families in a friendly and professional manner
+ Answering phones: handling incoming calls, providing information, and directing calls to the appropriate staff
+ Addressing patient inquiries: answering questions, addressing concerns, and providing clarification on procedures
+ Patient check-in and check-out: Verifying patient information, collecting payments, and ensuring a smooth flow of patients through the office
+ Appointment Scheduling and Management through Electronic Health Information System
+ Assisting with insurance verification in various databases, processing payment, and managing patient accounts
+ Performing general office tasks to maintain organization and efficiency
+ Acting as a liaison between patients, doctors, and other staff internally and externally, relaying information and ensuring smooth communication
+ Monitor and ensure safe and orderly patient waiting area
+ Assist with receiving and shipping of hearing aids and related equipment
Other important Functions:
+ Protecting patient privacy and ensuring compliance with regulations for HIPAA, DOH, Medicaid, and Medicare
+ Being aware of emergency procedures and assisting with patient care during emergencies
+ Continuous learning and process improvement
+ May be trained to specialize in certain clinic functions such as handling patient calls for scheduling speech-language evaluations and therapy or other specialized areas.
Skills:
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office, proficient use of excel
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Ability to coordinate and oversee a busy office
+ Ability to multitask
+ Strong attention to detail
+ Excellent customer service
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
Experience: 2 years’ experience with customer service. Prior medical office experience preferred.

+ Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
+ Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
