Summary You will serve as a SCIENTIST in the DIGITAL ENGINEERING DEPT D00 of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. Responsibilities You will serve to perform professional computer Scientist work comprising of complex projects involving all phases in the life cycle design. You will support the requirements of a complex matrix organization, supporting various sponsor driven requirements with the goal of developing sustainment and Engineering tools that can be leveraged across organizational boundaries. You will design, code, integrate, and debug software, high-speed computing, computer graphics, and real-time data acquisition systems. You will develop problem-orientated and non-procedural languages and their translating/operating systems. You will construct input-output buffering schemes, and design automatic scheduling and monitoring methods to increase scope and effectiveness of computer applications. You will develop advanced concepts of automation and information processing for display, control, and transfer of data. You will perform and document Software/Hardware Quality Assurance processes, methods, and techniques used to develop me/modified computer programs use for combat weapon systems, sub systems, and/or equipment. You will perform tasks to support cybersecurity and/or software compliance, assessment, maintenance, sustainment, development, test, evaluation, production, installations, training, and documentation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Computer Science Series, 1550: A. Have a Bachelor's degree in computer science. -OR_ B. Have a Bachelor's or higher degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 (GS-9-11 Equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Scientist developing science & technology solutions to improve computer systems software and cybersecurity requirements for Naval Combat and Weapon Systems and equipment. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement.
