    ICON PLC is currently seeking a **Manager, Bioanalytical Services** , Ligand Binding Assay operations to join our diverse and dynamic team. As the Manager of Ligand Binding Assay Operations at ICON, you will oversee the bioanalytical laboratory operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data to support clinical trials and research. This role provides scientific and operational leadership for ICON’s Bioanalytical Group in Lenexa, KS.

     

    The Manager will be leading a team of analysts, managing the bioanalytical workflow, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards to drive scientific excellence and operational efficiency. This role also ensures high-quality service delivery, drives operational excellence, supports business growth, and maintains laboratory compliance with evolving industry standards.

    What You Will Be Doing:

    Operational & Scientific Leadership:

    • Lead the daily scientific and operational activities of the LBA services team, ensuring delivery of client programs on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

    • Collaborate with the bioanalytical management team to develop and execute strategies that support business goals and financial targets.

    • Oversee resource planning, workflow scheduling, and instrument utilization to maximize lab efficiency.

    • Monitor and report operational and financial performance metrics regularly to site and corporate leadership.

    Business Development & Client Engagement:

    • Support business development efforts to grow LBA services by fostering relationships with existing and prospective clients.

    • Act as the scientific liaison for sponsors, addressing study needs, troubleshooting, and presenting ICON’s capabilities and solutions.

    • Partner with BD Directors to ensure a steady backlog of projects and identify new business opportunities.

    • Represent the LBA operations team in sponsor meetings, audits, and capability discussions.

    Quality & Compliance:

    • Ensure laboratory operations are conducted in compliance with GLP, GCP, and applicable regulatory guidelines.

    • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to maintain and update SOPs and quality systems in line with regulatory changes.

    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, driving process optimization initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency.

    Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Maintain effective communication channels with other ICON departments and global LBA teams to align service offerings and share best practices.

    • Work as part of the bioanalytical leadership team to support cross-functional initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the group.

    Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the LBA operations team, fostering a high-performance and client-focused culture.

    • Identify training needs and support career development opportunities for team members.

    • Encourage innovation, accountability, and a collaborative work environment aligned with ICON’s values.

    Your Profile:

    + Managing the day-to-day operations of the bioanalytical laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate analysis of clinical samples.

    + Leading a team of analysts, providing mentorship and guidance to maintain high performance and scientific integrity.

    + Overseeing the validation and execution of bioanalytical methods in compliance with GLP and regulatory standards.

    + Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including clinical and regulatory teams, to ensure alignment of bioanalytical activities with project goals.

    + Ensuring all laboratory processes adhere to quality control procedures, regulatory requirements and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

    Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related field.

    + Proven experience in bioanalytical services, laboratory management, or a related role, with a strong understanding of GLP and regulatory requirements.

    + Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to oversee complex laboratory workflows.

    + Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality data under tight deadlines.

    + Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional project teams.

    Preferred:

    + Advanced knowledge of LBA methods/platforms such as ELISA and MSD.

    + Experience in large molecule bioanalytical projects supporting clinical trials such as PK, ADA, NAb and biomarker analysis.

    + Experience with LIMS or automation platforms.

    Additional Expectations/Preferred Qualifications:

    + A minimum of 6 years industry experience

    + Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office

    + Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with good organization skills and good attention to detail.

    + Ability to work part of, and set the example of performance for this role.

    + Ability to work in conformance with SOPs and conditions with a systematic approach to tasks and seeing through to completion.

    + Demonstrated ability to keep accurate, legible records and recognize the need to handle these records and all other information in line with GLP and ICH M10.

    + Familiarity with operations of laboratory equipment and demonstrated ability to check equipment is functioning within specifications.

    + Act as a mentor to the team, identifying and developing each person’s unique talent with a view to achieving company and department objectives.

    + Willingness to lead

    + Customer focused- providing timely, confident, reliable and friendly service to all internal and external customers.

    + Demonstrate ability to manage budgets and productivity metrics to ensure department area meets financial goals.

    + Basic working knowledge of LIMS
