Summary Lead the company’s efforts to develop the National and large regional account sales strategy expanding distribution and fostering relationships with large, national and regional chain account customers. This position will work with the sales team to grow our existing national accounts and acquire new national chain accounts to achieve profitable sales growth. This position is pivotal in establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal and external partners to grow the customer base and revenue opportunity that align with strategic objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities • Develop and execute strategic plans for key national and large regional accounts, focusing on retention, growth, and distribution.• Works with the national account managers to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities within existing and potential national accounts.• Provide guidance and leadership to the national account sales team, ensuring effective execution of national account strategies. • Track key metrics, analyze performance, and report on progress towards strategic goals. • Stay informed about market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs, providing insights for strategic decision-making. • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, fostering trust and collaboration. • Ensure contracts and agreements with national accounts are managed effectively and comply with company policies and legal requirements.• Lead the forecasting and integrated business planning efforts for national accounts.• Manage external broker network including training, setting annual performance targets and monitoring execution.• Collaborate with marketing team on development of the annual marketing plan for the channel within budget• Create and manage channel budget including trade spend, T&E, promotional programs, etc.
Qualifications and Skills• Four year college degree or equivalent experience• Minimum 10 years of strategic sales experience in a consumer goods environment; cheese industry preferred• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets gaining distribution and securing new business• Strong Sales and Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to close deals, manage complex negotiations, and build strong relationships. • Strategic Thinking and Planning: Ability to develop and execute long-term strategies for national accounts. • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. • Leadership and Management Skills: Ability to lead and motivate teams, manage multiple priorities, and make strategic decisions. • Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and profitability analysis. • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to identify issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions. • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the industry, market trends, and competitive landscape. • System & Process Proficiency: Ability to effectively utilize MicroSoft Office Suite, business technology and execute sales processes (ex. forecasting, new item launches, etc)
