Math Instructional Coach Job Description
The Math Instructional Coach will provide instructional support and coaching to all REACH Academy Staff as they work to ensure that each student is able to reach his or her academic potential. The Coaches primary role is to work with teachers to support best practices in using data, provide analysis of school-wide trends in instruction, and make recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need. As an advisor to teachers and principals, the Coach is responsible for four main areas: a) observing instructional delivery and providing feedback to enhance and support the development of each math teacher's content area b) supporting teachers in the design of units and lessons for the development of their yearlong curriculum, c) analyzing data in order to modify curriculum and forms of assessment to meet students' needs, and d) working with the academic staff (grade level leaders, deans, counselors, and principal) in the schools to support sharing of best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Participates as an advisor, resource specialist, and facilitator in grade level meetings;
+ Provides individual and/or group instructional coaching and mentoring to teachers to improve classroom instruction for all learners;
+ Demonstrates creativity and takes initiative in planning and implementing student-centered programs and events, such as quarterly Honor Roll celebrations and other academic recognition opportunities that actively involve scholars and their families;
+ Applies a variety of instructional strategies to facilitate team effectiveness, collaboration, problem solving, leadership, meeting management, and conflict resolution;
+ Works collaboratively in planning with teachers, support staff and others as appropriate, in addressing the needs of students and implementing effective teaching and learning practices;
+ Supports the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the CCSS, and varied assessments;
+ Assists teachers in understanding REACH Academy Charter School's model and core values;
+ Assists with teacher planning and pacing of units/lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of the best practices to meet the needs of their students;
+ Informally observes lesson (non-evaluative) and provides feedback for a teacher's professional growth and students' success;
+ Models lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis;
+ Supports teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels;
+ Distributes and manages instructional and classroom materials to teachers;
+ Works with administration, and team and/or grade level teachers in planning standard based units of study and assessments aligned to REACH Academy Charter School curriculum model;
+ Serves as the case manager for students with disabilities and those with 504 plans, attend annual IEP meetings, re-evaluations, eligibility meetings and maintain records and confidentiality, etc;
+ Provides appropriate consultation and interventions for students who are at risk and facilitate the identification of students for special education when appropriate;
+ Performs other duties assigned by the Head of School
Qualifications/Education and/or Experience
+ Master's Degree in education or related field required from an accredited institution;
+ Previous coaching experience preferred;
+ Administrative Certification (SBL/SDL) preferred;
+ Able to work an 11- month position
Compensation
REACH Academy Charter School offers a competitive salary based on a step scale that reflects prior years of experience and certification level.
+ Entry-level salary for certified first-year teachers begins at $45,000.
