Job Description

The purpose of this position is to perform teaching duties and professional service for the College. This is accomplished by providing instruction as assigned; conducting and assessing instruction; developing and/or modifying curriculum; assisting students through academic advising; establishing, posting, and maintaining office hours; providing leadership for the development, growth, and support of the College and the assigned area; and undertaking professional community service. Other duties include supporting the mission, vision and values of the College and policies of the Board of Trustees; serving on various College committees, task forces and other groups; and participating in various official College ceremonies and meetings.

This is a 10-month, tenure-track position, which will begin in August 2025.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education

Master’s degree in Mathematics

Required Experience

At least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting, and a minimum of 18 graduate-level credits in Mathematics, Mathematical Sciences, Statistics, or a closely related discipline

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

+ Ability to teach introduction to statistics, college algebra, and transitional math courses.

+ Ability to create a culturally inclusive classroom experience.

+ Demonstrated competency with current technology and learning management systems.

+ Experience in assessment of student learning outcomes.

+ Ability to interact in a collegial and collaborative manner with students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Ability to teach trigonometry.

+ Demonstrated experience with student-centered, evidence-based instructional practices in mathematics education.

**Hours per Week** 40 - 100%

General Weekly Work Schedule

Full-time faculty teach 15 contact hours weekly in Fall and Spring semester and hold a minimum of five office hours per week. Course schedule as assigned.
