The Custodian Supervisor 1 reports to the Director of Faculties Operations and will supervise personnel in the maintenance, cleanliness and repair of buildings, grounds, and utility systems.
**RESPONSIBILITIES** Custodial Operations:
Oversee cleaning of building surfaces and buildings. Provide ongoing upkeep of the UW athletics village, which includes arenas, stadiums, meeting rooms, locker rooms, training rooms, classrooms, equipment rooms, restrooms, and other public areas. Includes cleaning and maintaining floors, walls, windows, carpets, furniture, sports equipment, wipe boards, sanitizing and restocking restrooms and showers, replacing light bulbs and emptying trash and recycle containers. Use power equipment and hand tools such as broom, mop, squeegee, buffer, carpet extractor, polisher and vacuum required for the cleaning and custodial maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture. Use ladders when required in work assignments.
Building Operations:
Instruct and/or supervise 1 to 10 persons in building operations. Set up and move furniture. Construct simple items such as door stops and bookshelves. Perform routine repairs to locks, floors, walls, ceilings, roofs, stairs, and competition surfaces. Perform general repairs on plumbing and electrical fixtures. Order and maintain stock of supplies. Check all equipment used for sporting and special events for proper function. Assist with snow or debris removal from sidewalks, stairs, driveways, entry way using manual or self-propelled equipment. Replace light bulbs, tissue and restroom supplies. Replace light switches and rewire lamps. Lock and unlock buildings. Secure building when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows. Report any unauthorized occupants.
Event Operations:
Instruct and/or supervise 1 to 30 persons in setup and cleanup of Hec Edmundson Pavilion (Alaska Airlines Arena) and other athletic facilities for events. Layout, direct and inspect work. Lead instruction and operation of activities such as installation of portable bleachers, baskets, staging, etc. Provide event support for events in Husky Stadium and other facilities. Troubleshoot building and custodial operations during an event.
Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain and trouble shoot repairs and/or recommend further repairs as needed such as the repair of custodial equipment, vacuums, buffers, forklift, blowers, and other equipment. Repair and replace electrical switches and wiring; change oil and grease fittings. Maintain and repair specialized equipment related to sports activities. May weld broken assemblies. May assemble and disassemble new and old equipment.
Other:
Ensure environment is maintained in a pristine condition for the safety and well-being of students, staff and visitors. Make hiring decisions, assign, train and monitor work for fulltime and temporary workers. Conduct performance reviews and authority to take or recommend corrective action. Layout, direct, and inspect their work and keep records of their hours. Gather information and write reports as requested. Keep records of, and order supplies as needed from vendors. Attend technical training and safety classes. Collect and manage lost and found articles. Perform other duties as required.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
One year of experience as a Custodian Lead.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Additional Requirements:
Physical ability to do required work. Ability to work in inclement weather. Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, all home football games, and Commencement.
This position is designated as one that performs an “essential function”. This position’s incumbent must continue to report to work in the event that the University suspends operations because of severe weather, natural disaster, or other emergency conditions
Typical Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 4am – 12:30pm
