Summary:
Registered Nurses are responsible for establishing a therapeutic relationship and an individualized plan of care with the patient for the Peri-operative period and for communicating that plan of care to his/her collaborative partners. Registered Nurses are accountable for planning, delivering, coordinating, evaluating, and modifying the patient's care for that defined period of time. The Registered Nurses will effectively transition the plan of care with attention to continuity across shifts and settings. The Registered Nurse will assure communication between patients, families and all members of the health care team. The Registered Nurse delegates and functions in accordance with the NJ Board of Nursing Statutes and Regulations.
Responsibilities:
1. The Nurse Manager follows the standards of the Registered Nurse (Job Code 535) within the defined job position related to the cost center.
2. Creates a customer-friendly environment consistent with the Medical Center at Princeton's patient-care model. Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, their families, guests, representatives, as well as fellow employees, volunteers and medical staff. Supports the Medical Center's mission to provide consistent quality health care services in a professional, caring and responsive environment.
• Maintain professional growth and development through formal education, seminars, workshops, professional affiliations, and encourage staff to do the same.
3. Assumes 24-hour accountability for unit functioning according to Medical Center at Princeton standards.
• Oversees QI program to ensure consistency with organization policies, procedure, and philosophy.
• Develops unit budget for staffing and capital expenses and ensures that the unit operates within allocated funds.
• Utilize personnel efficiently and assure cost-effective utilization of supplies.
• Interprets and effects administrative policy and procedures for unit management
4. Works collaboratively with other department directors to ensure high quality patient care.
• Assure proper maintenance of patient medical record and confidential treatment of patient information.
• Maintain required unit records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes and budget preparation
5. Oversees hiring, disciplinary/counseling, commendation and termination processes in accordance with the Organization's policies.
• Mentors growth and development of all direct reports.
• Supports chain of communication through team structure.

• Review the unit's performance in relation to established goals implement change to effect continual improvement in the service provided and assure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
• Facilitates leadership roles of professional and support staff.
• Evaluate performance of teams to ensure quality of service and technical expertise
6. Provide consultation, counsel, mentoring, and guidance for Team Coordinators and encourage participation in development of unit objectives.
• Through delegation ensure appropriate selection, training and supervision of patient care team.
• Makes daily, patient rounds and communicates necessary information to Team Leaders to ensure high quality patient care.
Credentials:
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification - required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Saving (ACLS) Certification - If applicable by unit
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification - If applicable by unit
Education or Equivalent Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required
• Master's Degree or pursing a Master's degree required, healthcare related field preferred

Salary Range:
$84,572.80 - $134,846.40/Annually based on 40 hours per week
