    Job Summary:

    Teledyne FLIR is looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our Surveillance Systems Division and work with a diversified team across multiple locations on high performance imaging and laser systems. The position will require mechanical technical expertise in design, analysis, and testing.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

    + Design opto-mechanical parts and assemblies with SolidWorks.

    + Geometric Tolerancing per ANSI/ASME Y14.5M.

    + Perform thermal and stress analysis using SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Workbench.

    + Responsible for the mechanical specifications and planning related to electro-optical system design.

    + Test complex opto-mechanical mechanisms and optical systems.

    + Effectively communicate among cross discipline teams located in multiple sites.

    Job Qualifications:

    + Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering required (Masters preferred)

    + A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and/or analysis (experience with opto-mechanical parts and assemblies highly preferred)

    + Experience with Gimbal (or Pan and Tilt) mechanism design a significant plus.

    + Work experience with Servo Systems for motion control required.

    + Experience working with Optical Systems (IR Optical a plus).

    + General experience with MIL-STD-810 and Ingress Protection (IP) sealed systems.

    + Designing with a solid modeling CAD program (SolidWorks and EPDM a plus).

    + Solid understanding of FEA Analysis, ANSYS Workbench experience preferred, experience with thermal analysis and random vibration analysis a plus.

    + Ability to apply high level principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field and solid knowledge of other related disciplines.

    + Demonstrated experience working within a multi-disciplinary team in a fast paced, technically challenging environment.

    + Able and willing to travel approximately 5% domestically

    + Violation free driving record and ability to obtain a security clearance.
