Summary:
Meta is seeking a Mechanical Engineer experienced in the design and operations of critical facilities to become part of our Design Engineering and Construction team. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our software operates with efficient ease. Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism. The Meta Data Center Engineering team endeavors to be the benchmark of innovation for the data center industry and improve reliability, safety, and efficiency through innovative solutions, enabling Infrastructure teams to excel in achieving their goals. This position is full-time.
Required Skills:
Mechanical Engineer, Data Center Product Development & Integration Responsibilities:
1. Lead and/or assist on new data center designs, integrating new technological advancements and requirements while balancing business priorities around cost, efficiency, time to delivery and sustainability.
2. Research, design and develop new data center cooling technologies/systems to reduce cost, improve reliability, efficiency, and speed to market. Contribute to development of data center cooling strategy and roadmap. Balance short-term priorities while understanding and tracking industry standards and emerging trends to drive long-term strategy.
3. Work closely with Civil, Structural, Landscape, Architects, Electrical, Connectivity & Controls Engineering teams to achieve holistic new product design that is optimized for cost, construction speed, operational efficiency, and long-term fungibility and flexibility.
4. Develop and collaborate with cross-functional teams to work on prefabricated (DFSMA) solutions and component offerings to be embedded into our new design products.
5. Partner with our Site Selection team on assigned site due diligence and master planning projects.
6. Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams outside of Engineering across different disciplines to assess and vet design solutions.
7. Drive design and path to breakground program schedules while working closely with design and construction to ensure milestones and completion dates are on track.
8. Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies.
9. Travel up to 25% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications:

10. 12 + years experience with critical facilities design, engineering, delivery and/or management.
11. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, related field or equivalent industry experience.
12. Cross-disciplinary design, development and operations knowledge of data center or similar mission critical industry heat absorption and heat rejection systems: server/rack/row level heat absorption (i.e. liquid cooling, air cooling using heat exchangers), building/campus level heat rejection (e.g. chillers, open cooling towers, dry coolers, etc.), facility & technical water distribution architecture, associated automation and control systems
13. Project management experience: Coordinating multiple consultant and contractor teams
14. Organization and communication experience with skill at communicating technical details to all organizational levels
15. Experience establishing working relationships and resolve interpersonal conflicts.

17. Advanced degree (MS or PhD).
18. Professional Engineering Registration (PE).
19. Data center mechanical systems design experience.
20. Control Systems design experience.
21. Experience in cost estimating methodologies to establish business cases for R&D projects - e.g. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), ROI, etc.
22. Experience in industry standards, building codes and safety standards including NEC, ASHRAE, NETA, ANSI, IEEE, NFPA, UL, UFC and UBC.
Public Compensation:
$204,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
