Job Description
AbbVie’s Business Evolution Strategic Development (BESD) Team is responsible for developing and executing forward-looking strategies that will ensure AbbVie’s readiness for, and ability to successfully navigate, potential changes in the healthcare environment. We are looking for a highly strategic and collaborative Senior Director, BESD to support critical enterprise efforts to tackle emerging distruptors. This role reports to the Vice President, BESD.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead the assessment and strategy development to navigate pharmaceutical price reform in the US today and in the future, and constantly consider new ideas and strategies that could support AbbVie’s objectives and goals.
+ Shepherd the development and execution of bold, integrated, environment shaping strategies as well as business readiness strategies through collaboration with dedicated cross-functional and external experts.
+ Foster a highly collaborative and positive working environment to power the execution of high impact, actionable strategies to advance the goals of the business.
+ Collaborate and serve as a strategic partner to critical cross-functional stakeholders, including Government Affairs, Market Access, Legal, Finance and Corporate Affairs; ensure alignment and drive key strategies and recommendations forward toward identified objectives and milestones.
+ Coordinate analysis, discussion and co-creation of ideas and solutions among cross-functional working groups.
+ In partnership with key functions and vendors, constantly monitor and analyze the external environment to understand evolving political, regulatory, legislative, and market dynamics. regarding price reform, and understand varying actions and behaviors of external stakeholders.
+ Evaluate opportunities that may unlock business value to support meaningful recommendations and business case that accelerate innovative solutions, competitiveness, and business impact.
+ Ensure senior leaders and relevant AbbVie stakeholders are informed of progress made by cross-functional team, as well as critical updates on the state of the external environment in the context of its potential impact to AbbVie.
Skills
+ Vision and Strategy: Leverage breadth of policy and business experience to provide overarching leadership and direction for price reform vision, strategies, plans and resource investment for AbbVie stakeholders. Align and lead the charge. Encompass an enterprise mindset and perspective in all strategies.
+ Action and Accountability: Own responsibility for strategies within relevant workstreams, and engage and inspire cross functional stakeholders to advance towards clear objectives and strategies; make quick, but informed decisions, as appropriate, to ensure best paths forward in the midst of change market and policy dynamics. Constantly engage, guide, and support cross-functional team to address roadblocks, challenges, resourcing constraints and other dynamics.
+ Leadership and Influence: Influence and persuade across multiple external and internal constituents (stakeholders and partners). Lead and develop direct, indirect and cross-functional teams.
+ Collaboration and Teamwork: Work effectively with internal stakeholders, external market experts and support partners to assimilate leading insights, strategy development and cross-functional execution.
Qualifications
+ Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in business consulting, government affairs, public policy, advocacy, or market access with a pharma company, trade association, government agency, think tank, or management consulting firm.
+ Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in strategically and creatively shaping policy and business outcomes, with a keen understanding of what it takes to do so effectively.
+ Exceptional communications and executive presence, critical thinking and interpersonal skills, strong ability to influence without authority, the ability to speak and write persuasively and with clarity, strong organizational skills, flexibility, and adaptability to changing requirements, resourcefulness and creativity, strong attention to detail, a proven track record of being able to work drive towards deadlines and an ability to work collaboratively in a fluid organizational and external environment.
+ Well-honed political sensitivities and the utmost integrity while having the executive presence and acumen necessary to deal effectively with and anticipate the needs of high-profile stakeholders such as senior leaders, C-Suite, and external stakeholders (consultants, third parties, policymakers.)
+ Must be an individual who works well in a team environment and enjoys working in a collegial, collaborative and fun, yet highly demanding culture.
+ Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree in relevant field preferred.

+ The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

Salary: $200,500 - $382,000
