    Overview

    As part of the Celestica Global Automation team, you are a seasoned Engineer with ample experience in all levels of automation equipment manufacturing and technologies. You can provide design solution concepts that can resolve complex manufacturing problems with the use of Automation. You can develop very detailed estimation cost of wide variety of solutions involving different types of technologies (robotics, PLC, vision system, automated testers, safety, mobile robots, cleanroom requirements, etc) in different type of markets (industrial, smart energy, healthtech, communications, etc) aligned with different types of standards/regulations. You have wide experience designing, developing and deploying automation technologies for different industries.

     

    In this role, you will report to the Sr Director Automation Engineering. This position is a remove role.

    Detailed Description

    Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

    • Conceptualize Automated/semi-automated assembly processes for different type of product.

    • Estimate investment cost in different scenarios based on location/manufacturing volume/customer requirements/etc, including direct/indirect labor requirements.

    • Create URS (User Requirement and Specifications) for assembly processes.

    • Create automation solutions that meet Celestica’s universal and site specific automation goals.

    • Provide technical guidance in the definition of flexible and scalable automation solutions.

    • Develop tools and methods to facilitate automation efforts.

    • Interface with customers and internal and external design teams to provide site specific automation needs.

    • Interface with suppliers presenting automation concepts through RFI/RFQ processes.

    • Evaluate suppliers and understand capability and maturity for different processes.

    • Support automation projects in all phases of the Project Life Cycle.

    • Support Design For Automated Assembly tool developments.

    • Be an automation adviser as required for internal teams.

    • Collaborate with various automation experts to deliver innovative automation solutions to customers.

    • Be knowledgeable of automation market trends for different technologies.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

    Must Have:

    + Able to analyze and determine the automation requirement and drive deliverables to commitment through global network of vendors and internal resources

    + Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and procedures

    + Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings

    + Experience with integrating 3rd party automation solutions as well as developing own solutions

    + Knowledge of some of the following automation systems and tools: Robotic, vision inspection, material handling, ASRS, Conveyors, PLC, SCADA, screws/fasteners, HMI, Pick-Place-Pack, Inspections/Test

    + Experience troubleshooting PLC/Robots/HMI

    + Experience in Automated Turn Key Solutions; Previously involved in Design, Manufacturing, Installation, Start-Up and Commissioning Stages of the Project knowledge of drafting principles using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks (or similar)

    + Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing

    + Project Management Experience; basic understanding of PMBOK

    + Knowledge of Financial Terms and Calculations (ROI, Payback, etc)

    Nice to Have:

    + Experience with analytical software such as Minitab

    + Experience with Robotic simulation systems

    + Knowledge of Layout, Tooling/Fixturing, Demand Flow, Cell Concept and Lean Manufacturing

    Physical Demands

    + Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.

    + Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.

    + Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

    + Occasional travel may be required.

    Typical Experience

    • Minimum 10 years of automation experience in manufacturing industry in assembly processes, preferably in a fast pace electronics manufacturing industry.

    Typical Education

    • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering / Robotics/ Mechatronics or similar.

    Salary Range:

    _The salary range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including but not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate._ _Salary Range: $102k-$159k Annually_
