    Koniag Emerging Technologies, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced System Administrator to support our federal client. This role combines traditional system administration with cloud infrastructure management in AWS. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with federal IT systems and a strong understanding of government operations. This position requires a Public Trust Clearance. This position is Hybrid, with some on-site work required.

    The System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing both on-premises and cloud-based systems.

    Principal responsibilities include:

    + Managing and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure including EC2 instances, S3 storage, and related services

    + Administering Windows and Linux servers, including patch management and security updates

    + Implementing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions

    + Managing user access controls and authentication systems

    + Monitoring system performance and capacity planning

    + Providing technical support and problem resolution for end-users

    + Participating in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning

    + Documenting system configurations, processes, and procedures

    + Collaborating with security teams to ensure compliance with federal standards

    + Supporting migration initiatives from legacy systems to cloud-based solutions

    + Maintaining system availability and implementing preventive maintenance

    Required:

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

    + 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator

    + 3+ years of experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure

    + Previous experience working with federal agencies

    + Experience working in Agile environments

    Required Skills and Competencies:

    + Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Route 53)

    + Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux administration

    + Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)

    + Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols

    + Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery procedures

    + Experience with monitoring tools and performance optimization

    + Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements

    + Strong scripting abilities (PowerShell, Python, Bash)

    + Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy management

    + Experience with ticketing and service management systems

    + Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

    + Strong communication and documentation abilities

    + Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance

    + Experience with change management processes in federal environments

    Desired Skills and Competencies:

    + AWS certifications (Ex. Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator)

    + Experience with configuration management tools (ex. Ansible, Chef, Puppet)

    + Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

    + Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines

    + Experience with federal IT security requirements (FISMA, NIST)

    + Prior experience with Department of Interior systems

    + Knowledge of federal acquisition and procurement processes
