**Description:** Develops physically, tests, and evaluates complex prototype aircraft and aircraft\-related electronic, electrical, and allied systems and modifies and adjusts such systems to achieve operational criteria and integration with complete weapons systems under experimental laboratory conditions and under the direction of engineering personnel\.
Builds and tests prototype electronic, electrical, and allied systems where basic methods, procedures and other guide lines are established but require some deviations from design or shop practice and otherwise assists engineers and higher rated technicians in test activities and development projects\.
Determines necessary methods, operations, and sequences, makes initial layouts of electronic circuit bread boards and component arrangement, and develops entire prototype electronic and allied systems and equipment such as radar, microwave, aircraft power system mock\-ups, guidance, communications, antennas, radomes, and transmission lines requiring ingenuity in devising and adapting various new and unproven electronic units, equipment, and devices to satisfy special\-purpose needs\.
Develops missing and improved design and other details and/or makes changes in systems components and circuitry utilizing a complete knowledge of electronics theories and principles, including advanced circuitry, and a comprehensive practical knowledge of functions, capacities, and limitations of electronic and associated equipment\.
Determines methods and sequences for testing operations, selects and sets up test equipment, and records and evaluates results of such tests as required\. Devises test apparatus for experimental laboratory testing and development programs, determines measurement standards, and makes sketches as required\.
Operates and tests the above Company\-designed, customer, and purchased electronic and allied systems, including making microwave, radio frequency and dielectric measurements where test procedures have not been developed in order to verify the performance and characteristics of such systems, including their integration with allied systems\. Troubleshoots and corrects systems malfunctioning and suggests necessary changes and improvements for engineering approval\.
Works from complex engineering drawings, schematic and wiring diagrams, sketches, and from written and verbal engineering instructions\.
Builds, lays out, fabricates, and assembles chassis, panels, housings, support and similar items for electronic and allied systems and equipment including radar, microwave, aircraft power system mockups, guidance, communications, antennas, radomes and transmission lines, working from drawings, schematics, diagrams or other instructions where design of construction details may be incomplete necessitating some deviation from specified design or shop practice in order to produce acceptable units\.
Installs and wires all types of delicate and expensive prototype electronic components, sets up test apparatus such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, impedance bridges, frequency measuring devices, computerized test equipment, and bench and environmental test equipment such as cold boxes, dust and altitude chambers and vibration machines and conducts tests of electronic systems where procedures have been established\.
Adjusts and calibrates systems as required, repairs malfunctioning units discovered during test by removing and replacing faulty components such as resistors, capacitors, coils, vacuum tubes, transistors, and other solid state devices\.
Sets up and operates power tools such as hand brakes and shears, sanders, and power saws to fabricate items required for developmental programs in the area of electronic and allied systems\. Works with various types of new materials and prototype electronic devices and uses precision hand tools and measuring instruments\.
Performs associated duties such as improvising special shop aids and fixtures, making up radio and radar cable ass
