The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine provides professional and graduate programs leading to DVM , MS and PhD degrees, and operates the Veterinary Teaching Hospital ( VTH ) and Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory OVDL ). The College operates within a total budget (from all sources) of approximately $38 million annually, which supports educational programs, veterinary medical and diagnostic public services and research programs with broad impacts related to animal and human health. The Department of Clinical Sciences oversees clinical, classroom, and laboratory teaching, and scholarly activity of clinical faculty and residents. The VTH provides primary and referral health care for large and small animals throughout the Pacific Northwest.
A primary responsibility of this Instructor position is active participation in the CCVM professional curriculum, with particular emphasis on instruction and training of rural veterinary practice topics for professional veterinary students and house officers in the Department of Clinical Sciences. Responsibilities will be complemented by clinical service (primary care services to large animal patients) during regular hours and after hours as part of our Rural Veterinary Practice. The clinical emphasis is on equine care, though familiarity with basic health care interventions for other domestic farm animal species is required. Teaching efforts will largely be directed towards senior veterinary students in their clinical rotations and electives.
